Jose Mourinho is a far happier man following the win at Feyenoord on
Tuesday evening than he was following the defeat in Chicago on Saturday.
Chelsea won 1-0 with a Frank Lampard goal, but could have scored more.
Feyenoord had the chance to pull level in the last minute when a careless
free-kick was conceded and van Hooijdonk hit the post.

“I think it was a very good training session for us and for them,” said
the manager. “In Holland teams like to play football, and I think you
couldn't have a better team to train against. It's always nice to win, but
for me the important thing was it was almost a game. It was serious, it
was competitive, and I'm happy because there was an evolution in my team.
跟費耶諾德這種進攻型球隊交手實在太好了，雙方都受益匪淺。
“We are training for ten days, we have just arrived from USA and it is
not easy to be in this period of the season. I understand that Feyenoord
has played more matches and has been in pre-season for a longer time. And
that was good for us because we had intensity, we had pace. I'm really
happy to come and play, and maybe next season again.”
對手比我們的季前訓練還要充分，但我們居然能贏。
Feyenoord were not that far short of a full house, and would surely love
the fixture again. “The tendency is to get better and better and
better,” he continued. And then he excused the Chicago performance.
當然希望球隊越來越好。
“We train 15 training sessions in eight days, the team was really tired,
the pitch was not good, the players had no motivation, they had to travel
from LA to Chicago to play the game. The circumstances were not easy.
Today was better, the team had one day to rest, we train yesterday but
just preparing for this game, and the tendency is to improve. I could see
Ballack playing 90 minutes, Geremi, Paulo, Ricardo, Kalou 90 minutes no
problems. The other people I decide 45, 60 minutes but I could see they
could play a bit more, so the natural tendency is to improve.
八天中我們上了15堂訓練課，還要舟車勞頓，可是球員還能克服種種障礙越打越好。
“And again, it's not easy to play against a team like Feyenoord because
they play the ball, they pass, and when the team is a passing team you
have to run more.
費耶諾德是傳球型的球隊，這樣就更不好對付了。
“But I'm happy because I think that for one hour my team controlled the
game, not because we defend well, but because we had a good possession of
the ball. In the last 30 minutes we could score the second goal and have
the result. We didn't and they had the reaction.
不過我們最終還是拿到控球權，甚至還能進第二球。
“My old friend Pierre van Hooidjonk is still a danger, not just from the
free-kick but from the way he plays together with the other striker, and
that improving in the end made the game more difficult at the end. But I'm
very happy.”
范霍伊東克還是很強啊，差點被他搞死。
Inevitably he was asked about William Gallas. “Gallas had an unbelievable
holiday, I hope he enjoy very much in Guadeloupe, I think it's a fantastic
place to be on holiday.
回到加拉的問題，聽說他之前在瓜德洛普渡假渡得狠爽。
“He trained yesterday for the first time. He's not in condition to play.
Paulo is playing central defender because we have no more options, playing
in the first-half very well against good players like Kuyt who moves so
well. And in the second-half Ricardo and Terry show why they will be my
first option. We have to wait for Robert Huth to recover, he's still
recovering from his injury, so at this moment we have only Ricardo and
Terry.
加拉昨天歸隊，還沒有比賽的狀態，但隊長和卡瓦略發揮得很出色。
“Bridge played in the first-half and Paulo the second. Paulo is my man
for everything. Left-back, right-back, central defender. At this moment I
have only Bridge and Paulo for left-back, so yes there is a place in my
squad for another left-back. We have only one real left-back. If Arsenal
decided to sell the player, that's okay, but the player belongs to Arsenal
and we can change nothing about it.
現在我們只有一名專職左後衛，不過阿森那要是不賣柯爾，那就拉倒。
“Arsenal have an offer from Chelsea, if they accept they accept, if they
don't, they don't. It's in their hands. But we have other options. We
cannot play a whole season with only Wayne Bridge. For a couple of days we
have no solution about Ashley Cole.”
反正價已經開了，等結果吧，不然就要找別人。
Once again he stressed the difference in approach this year. He expects
there to be more attacking this season. But there will still be the
midfield enforcer, the basis of the team.
球隊將變得比以往更富攻擊性。
“Today was Essien and Diarra at the end of the game, we have also
Makelele to play that role. We have three attacking players without real
positions. At this moment you cannot say Kalou played outside-left or
Shevchenko played centre-forward.”
現在只放單後腰，而且前鋒三人位置多變。
“Today we start with Kalou, Shevchenko and Arjen, tomorrow I start with
Shaun, Drogba and somebody else… I have to think!” Get down to the
Bridge. Have some fun.
