Seventeen year old Israeli centre-forward Ben Sahar, signed in the summer,
scored on his full Chelsea debut this morning, Saturday, and enjoyed a
fine all round game. Chelsea Youth have now beaten Liverpool and Wednesday
1-0 this season.

Sahar had already hit the post following the Wednesday goalkeeper
deflecting his on-target effort on to the upright when, with half an hour
gone, he raced on to an outstanding curled pass from Ricardo Fernandes and
took it round the keeper to finish.

“A marvellous goal,” said manager Ruud Kaiser. “A great assist and a
great goal.”
Sahar then raced into the area again from Tejera's pass and went down on a
shirt pull. The referee booked him for diving, but Kaiser was angry and
convinced it was a penalty. He also forced a high-flying save with a good
header.

Tejera was also booked. Recent signing Morten Nielsen came on just before
the hour for his youth team debut.

Kaiser saw much to be pleased with even if there was still a 'could do
better' note.

“We played really, really well in the first-half, good football. When we
didn't score the second goal in the second-half we stopped playing, and
for the last ten minutes had to battle to get the result.
“They didn't give in, they battled, but I'd have preferred them still to
pass and move. I think they got tired. If we'd have got the second goal we
could easily have gone on to get more. But we have to get that goal.
“But it was a good start, we played good football which is really
important for 50 or 60 minutes.”
