John Terry's chances of starting Wednesday night's Champions League game
in Sofia increased when he passed fitness criteria set down by his
manager.

Just 72 hours earlier it looked almost impossible that the skipper would
be leading his team into European battle this week as he tentatively made
his way along the touchline at Fulham, a seized back preventing his
participation in the game.

However following what his manager described as an unbelievable length of
time spent with the Chelsea medical staff and a training session on Monday
before travelling to Bulgaria, Terry completed another full session with
the squad early Tuesday evening. The venue was the Vassil Levski National
Stadium, the ground that will stage tomorrow's game.

Before the session had begun, Mourinho had laid down the ground rules.
“If John trains well the whole session and handles the session in a
condition, then I think he will play. We were a bit worried about a long
flight with him in the same position all the time, but he kept moving all
the time and it was okay. It looks like yes, he will play.”
如果隊長可以完成整個訓練課的話，那他就能比賽。
Mourinho rubbished the idea that against the theoretical weakest
opposition in Group A, he would be tempted to rest his captain even if all
seemed well with the player.

“We need points. We cannot qualify with just three points, we need
normally between nine and 12 points so we need to win matches. If John is
the right condition he plays. If the answer is no, we have solutions.
Boulahrouz is back and Paulo played very well against Fulham. I will try
to play with the best team.”

Mourinho's unwillingness to take risks with his team selection is at least
partly due to his respect for quality of the opposition and also the need
to rectify Chelsea's questionable away form in Europe.
老大不願冒險，因為對手的實力不俗，而且卻爾西的歐戰客場能力很爛。
He echoed Frank Lampard's thoughts that Levski's 5-0 thrashing by
Barcelona in Camp Nou was not an accurate guide to their true abilities.

“I think they have in their minds that if they cannot qualify, they want
to go into the UEFA Cup. They need points to do that and it is easier to
get wins at home,” said Mourinho.
列夫斯基可能認為就算不能晉級，也要搶下第三名去打聯盟盃，主場總是比較輕鬆。
“In Barcelona the crowd was large, the pitch was big and within five
minutes they are losing so they didn't even have time to settle down. I
have seen the game three or four times and they did okay. They may have
injuries but they won't change their structure. They will try to get a
result.
諾坎普球場大球迷多，列夫斯基太早失分不能適應，但事實上他們打得不錯。
“Of course Levski has not the best player in the world like Barcelona and
they don't have players with 50 to 60 games in the Champions League, but
the first game at home is always special. With Porto we went to Belgarde
to play Partizan when it was their first game ever in the Champions
League, like it is for Levski, and it was very difficult. If someone wants
to offer me a 1-0 win tomorrow, I'll take it and go back to London now!”

The Chelsea manager concluded his pre-training thoughts with words of
support for Andriy Shevchenko, the striker coming into question after five
games without a goal.

you are a Mickey Mouse player, nobody complains because every weekend you
play nothing. If you are a big player, if for a moment you play a little

between his legs or over his hands, it is a scandal. If he is a bad
goalkeeper, people say — Ha! Again!
