The Portuguese player has played a bit-part role at the club this season with the addition of Khalid Boulahrouz from Hamburg. Ferreira lost his place in the team after the 2-1 defeat against Middlesbrough at the end of August, but refuses to accept he has now dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. "Sometimes the manager has to make changes to improve the team depending on the kind of game it is," Ferreira explained. "So I just have to keep working. With the squad and the quality we have, you have to work very well all the time. "The season is very long and everyone will play, and for me, of course I'd love to play in every game. But I know this is very difficult. When you have three big games in a week there is only a short amount of time to recover so the manager has to change the team." The ￡13 million man helped The Blues to their first top flight title in 50 years in his first season at the club. Despite dropping points at Boro and at home to Aston Villa, the champions have made yet another solid start to the campaign. And Ferreira has reassured the West London faithful about the season that lies ahead. "It's been a good start. I've heard some people say we are not playing very well. But that is normal because we have some new players and it takes time for us to all get to know each other," he continued. "Maybe we are not playing our best yet but there is more to come. But however you are playing, as long as you are still winning, that's all that matters." The 27-year-old won the UEFA Champions League with boss Jose Mourinho for Porto and while he also wants to win the title with Chelsea, he has warned of the perils of focusing solely on that cause. "Of course I want to win it again," he added. "But every competition is important for the whole club and for the players. "We shouldn't just be thinking about the Champions League because that is dangerous. It's about trying to win every competition that we play in.
