Jose: Brilliant in Barca
Tuesday, Oct 31, 2006
Strictly speaking, Chelsea need one point in Bremen from our next Champions
League game to guarantee qualification - but Jose Mourinho for one is happy
that part of the job is already done. He summed up the performance in
Barcelona with one word - brilliant!
'The result is good because it leaves us needing one more win to finish top
of the group,' he said, delighted with the last gasp draw. Chelsea may still
be looking for our first win in this stadium, but this time the team leave
more satisfied than ever before.
'The performance was brilliant,' confirmed Mourinho. 'Physically very strong,
mentally very strong.
'Tactically we were always under control against a very difficult team.
Losing 1-0 after three minutes, there was a great reaction. We had a lot of
chances to score and Valdes was brilliant.'
The saves by the Barca keeper from Essien and Robben just before the
half-hour had thwarted Chelsea's best spell in the first 45 minutes.
'The beginning of the second-half, before we scored, there were more big
chances and more great saves,' continued Mourinho. There was no need for him
to be asked questions. He was in full flow with his match analysis.
(滔滔不絕啊...可見老大真的很high~)
'We scored a goal and we were the best team at the time. Then a mistake and
Ronaldinho made a fantastic action for Eidur's goal. After that it is again
difficult from the mental point of view because we didn't deserve to be
losing and we were. But the team was again very strong.
'I made a change to take out a right-back to make an extra attacking player
which I can only do if the team is very strong. The goal came in injury time
but no doubt we deserved that goal and maybe a bit more.
'Drogba's contribution was magnificent again. The men with the big chances to
score were Robben and Ballack. Drogba had not many chances because his direct
opponents are difficult to play against. But when he had the big chance, he
put the ball in the net.
(羅本小衰神附身,怎麼踢就是不進;巴拉克也不順。倒是沒有太多拿球機會的獸巴把

'The team collectively played very well and when they do that, I don't like
to single out individuals.'
If there was one major negative from the game it was the six yellow cards
picked up by the Chelsea side. Many observers believed the one shown to
Ashley Cole on 38 minutes was his second of the game but when a red didn't
follow, it became clear that another Chelsea player, and not the left-back,
had been booked for dissent 12 minutes earlier.
(以下 討論A科、LP傻傻分不清楚 與 黃牌滿天飛 事件)
'The first yellow card was for Lampard, the fourth official answered that
question immediately because I asked him,' Mourinho cleared up. 'Lampard is
now suspended for the Bremen game. Cole got his first card of the competition.
(LP在下一場對布萊梅將被禁賽。)
'The game was not an aggressive game so when you see that number cards, it is
because someone tries to provoke the cards. Sometimes you saw seven or eight
players surrounding the referee to get him to give a yellow card.
'It is not easy for the referee to be always under pressure, with the players
rolling around on the pitch.'
The Chelsea manager finished his summing up on a positive note.
'It is now 13 consecutive matches with no defeat and this is the most
difficult group because it has three great teams plus one that can't get
points. When every other team gets six points from one team, it makes it even
more difficult.
'My team has played very, very well.'
