Despite taking an early lead through Anton Rodgers, Chelsea were forced to comeback from a one-goal deficit as David Cawley and Caolan Lavery both found the net for Ipswich. A draw came as Billy Knott (pictured) equalised with only three minutes left on the clock, sending a phenomenal strike into the top corner from just inside the box. The hosts dominated the first 10 minutes of football before Chelsea took the lead, with Aldi Haxhia denying a freekick from Ronan Murray before Luke Hyam headed inches over. The opening goal came when Hyam fouled 20 yards out. Rodgers stepped up to expertly curl a shot over the wall and into the net. Ipswich keeper Ian McLoughin could only watch as the ball crossed the line. Minutes after the goal, Chelsea had another chance to score. Rodgers broke down the right and released Bobby Devyne, only for McLoughin to prevent another goal for the visitors with a fine save. Then Aliu Djalo nearly made it two. After Billy Knott sent a through ball into the box for Marko Mitrovic, the forward pulled the ball back for captain Djalo, only for the subsequent shot to fly just high of its mark. But it would be Ipswich who'd score next. After Billy Clifford was a shown a yellow card for a late tackle, Murray nodded the ball down in the box to Cawley, who drilled a volley past Haxhia. The hosts made it two nine minutes into the second half when Lavery made a defence-splitting run before finally finishing with a low shot into the bottom left from just inside the box. Within minutes Ipswich had nearly made it three when a Cawley corner found Josh Meekings at the far post, but Djalo was waiting on the line to clear from danger. Ipswich then made several changes before Chelsea finally found the equaliser. Mitrovic played the ball down the left flank, Knott collected and after taking a few steps forward launched a screaming shot into the top corner, 2-2. 'Ipswich were a really strong side and they played well,' said Chelsea youtn team manager Dermot Drummy after the game. 'We played mostly first years and to come back from a goal down and play good football showed the boys played really well.'
