Jack Cork impressed on his full Premier League debut for Burnley on Sunday,
despite being on the wrong end of a 5-2 beating.
The 20-year-old midfielder had made one previous sub appearance for the
Clarets at Fulham a fortnight ago, but was picked from the start for the
trip to Aston Villa and played a part in both of his side's goals - it was
his 100th career league start.
Cork, who can also play as a centre-half or right-back, showed his
capabilities going forwards with his energetic running, supplying David
Nugent with a tidy pass, allowing the forward to square for Steven
Fletcher to open the scoring.
With Burnley well beaten by the closing stages, the Chelsea man still had
the energy to burst forward and cross for Martin Paterson to tap home,
rounding off a promising debut for the man who spent the first half of the
season at Coventry in the Championship.
Scott Sinclair also figured on live TV on Sunday, the winger making a sub
appearance for Wigan against Tottenham, the Latics eventually going down
3-0.
Since the last loan update, Sinclair, 20, has scored his second Wigan goal,
rounding off a 4-1 FA Cup win against Hull at the beginning of January.
He now has 20 Wigan appearances under his belt, five as a starter, and 16
in the top flight.
Michael Mancienne was of course ineligible for our visit to Wolves on
Saturday, but has continued to feature regularly for Mick McCarthy's men,
largely as a defensive midfielder rather than his favoured position in the
back four.
The 22-year-old has accumulated 24 appearances at Molineux, and will be
back in the squad for the weekend's trip to Bolton.
Franco Di Santo sat out Blackburn's 3-0 win over the Trotters on Sunday,
and has not featured since February 6, when they were despatched by the
same scoreline by Stoke. However the Argentine forward did play 83 minutes
for Rovers' reserves against Wigan last week.
In the Championship, Patrick van Aanholt has done well in his month-long
spell with Newcastle, which is due to end this week.
The Dutch Under 21 international has started six times in that period for
the Football League's top club, and played in front of more than 45,000 at
St James' Park on Saturday, in a 3-0 win over Preston.
It is believed Newcastle would like to extend beyond this coming weekend,
when Van Aanholt's temporary deal is due to expire.
Another left-back in the Championship is Ryan Bertrand, who continues to
play regularly for struggling Reading.

Bertrand in action against Liverpool at Anfield
Bertrand, an England Under 21 international, has now racked up 34
appearances for the Royals, who remain in the FA Cup after a fifth round
draw at home to West Brom. His standing in the squad is such that he has
played more league football than any other outfield player this season.
Other loanees Rhys Taylor, Jacob Mellis, Liam Bridcutt and Nana
Ofori-Twumasi have now all returned to Chelsea from their respective
clubs.
Taylor was an unused substitute goalkeeper for the duration of his stay at
QPR, while the other three were all regulars.
Mellis played 14 times at Southampton in League One, while Bridcutt made
19 appearances at Stockport, scoring once, and Ofori-Twumasi scored twice
in 10 appearances for Dagenham & Redbridge.
