CHELSEA TV EXCLUSIVE: DESAILLY`S DIAGNOSIS

Marcel Desailly insists Chelsea needs to rediscover our defensive mindset
following two straight defeats last week.
Speaking exclusively to Chelsea TV, the French defender revealed slight
concerns with Saturday's performance but believes the side has the ability
to bounce back.
He's also certain we shouldn't let the loss affect our weekend game as
it's not often we concede defeat at the Bridge.
'I am worried but at the same time we have people who have the capacity to
reorganise whatever is going on,' explained the former captain of Chelsea
and France, who gave expert analysis to French television at Saturday's
game.
'We are not pressing in midfield and we are also making some mistakes
defensively but let's be patient.
'We are still at the top of the League and in the Champions League so we
to have hope. We have a huge record here at Stamford Bridge and it doesn't
happen often that teams can come here and win like that, so let's take it
as an accident.'
Being a defensive stalwart for his country throughout much of the Nineties,
with his expert eye Desailly sees problems for the side when it comes to
protecting our goal.
'The midfield was the power of the team,' explained the Chelsea legend.
'In the past, when Didier [Drogba] was by himself up front it was the
midfielders who were having to project themselves up front to help, but
they were also more tight on the defending.
'Your defensive midfielders need to make the effort and the others around
also have to have the first idea of defending. Everyone knows this and
everyone concerned wants to fight for the club and for the team to come
back because we need Chelsea at the top level.'
However, apart from the weekend blip, he still feels this year's League
belongs to us, although there is a slight concern for the Frenchman.
'It is the year of Chelsea again but we have to be careful,' he warned.
'We have a clever coach who is going to get back the link we had before
and the luck will come.
'The only problem I have is that at the end of the season in April we have
a couple of games against the big four and it is going to be very
difficult.'
