Chelsea - Mikel Takes the Arm-Band!
With 2010 now only just around the corner, John Obi Mikel has joined the
illustrious list of Chelsea players that have captained their country.
Despite a couple of brushes with the Nigerian authorities, the Nigerian
coach, Lars Lagerson, has decided that the twenty-two year old is his choice
to lead Nigeria in the World Cup Finals this summer.
Talking about the appointment, Lars has remarked,
"Mikel is a young player and a good player with a great future."
"I think he already shows great promise. As we go into the future, it is
important to get a fresh, young face to be the team leader."
"He knows it is a big responsibility. I am sure he will have no problems with
the rest of the team."
