REACTION: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN PART THREE
Posted on: Sun 25 Apr 2010
'I would have preferred to keep two or three of those goals for next
week,' declared Carlo Ancelotti, understandably in cheerful mood after
guiding Chelsea to a club record and very important win.
'I needed to tell my players this,' the Italian continued with a smile
shortly after the final whistle ended the Blues record victory in a top-
flight game. That's in all 105 years of our existence, not just the
Premier League era.
It takes the target down to three wins out of three to complete the Double
with the away match at Liverpool next up.
This 7-0 defeat of Stoke when there was no margin era will be read by many
as sending out a message of confidence to those who doubted Chelsea after
the last weekend's set back, but Ancelotti was just as pleased with the
effect it might have on his squad.
'We don't need to send a message to the other teams, this was a good
message for us because after the defeat against Tottenham we needed a good
reaction and we showed this.
'There was a little bit of pressure on us before the game but from the
beginning the team was focused and did a fantastic performance.
'We are happy we are showing during this season fantastic attacking play
and have scored 93 goals in the Premier League. If people see Chelsea play
good football we are happy because this is our aim.'
As well as the Sunday goal feast, there was further good news in Ashley
Cole's return to action, and having chosen him to start, Ancelotti gave
his left-back the thumbs-up.
'After over two months out he did a fantastic performance because he
played with consistency for 90 minutes without problem. It is important
for us to have him in this moment of the season.'
This was the third time this season we have netted seven in a game and a
first Chelsea hat-trick by Salomon Kalou, two goals from Frank Lampard and
strikes by Florent Malouda and substitute Daniel Sturridge made it a goal
difference of eight better than Manchester United, although Ancelotti
believes the league will be decided by points, not by goals.
A month ago he predicted 86 points would be enough to win the league which
is the number Chelsea will have if we beat Liverpool and Wigan.
'I hope we play against Liverpool like we played today but they will fight
against us to reach fourth place because it is an important position for
their future' the Chelsea boss warned. 'It will be a very difficult match
for both teams.'
'Chelsea's game at Liverpool is probably the championship decider,' said
Stoke manager Tony Pulis, and many will agree. He had few words to say
about his side's heavy defeat.
'Chelsea are a terrific side but it is disappointing for us that we had
five or six players well off it today, and we can't afford that.'
Inevitably Ancelotti was asked if he kept to his promise on Saturday
afternoon of going to the cinema rather than watching the Man United game.
'No, I had a walk in the park,' he said. 'The same as today!' more than
one person listening replied!

一個模子刻出來的阿,簡直是老JAMES在電視上走來走去。"
