CHELSEA TV EXCLUSIVE: MANCIENNE IN MIDFIELD

Michael Mancienne is back at Cobham briefly for some rehabilitation work
on a knee injury and Chelsea TV caught up with him to find out about his
season so far at Wolves.
The Chelsea defender, who is on a season-long loan with the West Midlands
club, was selected in midfield by Mick McCarthy prior to his injury and
speaking exclusively to the club's official television channel, the
22-year-old discussed his position.
'I have been playing holding midfielder but to be honest I don't really
feel like I have a position,' Mancienne said. 'But if I was to pick a
position at the moment then that would be it because I have been learning
it and I feel comfortable there.
'I want to be playing week in week out and it is good experience for me.
I'm just happy to be playing at the moment.'
Mancienne had been regarded more as a central defender prior to Wolves,
for whom he has made 63 appearances in three loan spells, and as well as
top-flight experience in midfield, another element of the game he is
gaining bountiful experience in is pressure. His temporary club are
currently 19th in the League having accumulated 15 points from 17 games.
'There is a lot of pressure,' he admitted. 'We have been either losing in
the last two minutes or not getting anything from the game. It has been
difficult but I think it will pick up now.
'I was really gutted when we played Manchester United,' he added, speaking
of Ji-Sung Park's last-minute winner against Wolves in the Red Devils' 2-1
victory. 'It was a bit devastating for us because we could have got
something at Old Trafford. But with a couple of wins you're out of the
bottom three anyway, it's so tight. We just have to see what happens.'
Although he's only on loan at Wolves, Mancienne is putting everything into
the lower-table dog fight.
'When you are there you want to do well for the club, you do care for the
club and you don't want them to go down. I am a Chelsea player but I will
play my heart out for Wolves as well because that's where I am at the
moment.'
Chelsea travel to Molineux to play Wolves on January 5 but Mancienne will
not be eligible to play under the conditions of the loan.
