LOAN INTEREST
Posted on: Wed 26 Jan 2011
There have been some Blues returning from loan spells recently but we
still have six players plying their trade elsewhere.
Michael Mancienne remains at Wolves but hasn't played for the club since
their 3-0 defeat to Blackburn at the beginning of December. He has been s
uffering with pain from his patella tendons in his knees.
The utility man, who has played holding midfielder for Mick McCarthy,
returned to Chelsea for treatment and is still unsure of when he can head
back to the Midlands.
Jack Cork's spell at Burnley continues. He has made a further eight
appearances for the Championship side since the last Loan Interest
article, which followed the midfielder's second goal for Burnley as they
lost 2-1 to Derby County.
In the 11 fixtures since then, Cork has seen his loan side lose three,
draw two and win three as well as a change of managers. Eddie Howe, 33,
has been appointed as the new manager at Turf Moor following Brian Laws
dismissal in December.

Cork is still at Burnley
Matej Delac, Slobodan Rajkovic and Nemanja Matic are still at Vitesse
Arnhem. Goalkeeper Delac continues to wait for his debut but Rajkovic has
become a regular in the side's defence, starting 13 games.
Matic has appeared 16 times in midfield for the Dutch side, as well as
coming on once as a substitute. Both Matic and Rajkovic are yet to find
the net.
The Dutch team has seen a slight rise in form since Albert Ferrer's
appointment as manager back in October but have lost three of their last
four games. They currently sit 15th in the Eredivisie, with 18 points from
20 games.
Back in England, Rhys Taylor played one game for Crewe in December, a 3-3
draw with Stockport, but has donned the northerners' shirt six times in
January. It's a run that ended with a red card in a 3-2 defeat to
Aldershot.

Taylor received a red at Crewe
Taylor was sent off late in the fixture after handling the ball outside of
his area and, despite an appeal to the FA, served a one-match ban, meaning
he missed Bradford's visit to Gresty Road on Tuesday night.
Conor Clifford's two-month loan deal with Plymouth Argyle came to an end
in December after the 19-year-old's final appearance in a 2-0 win over
Exeter. The winning goalscorer in the FA Youth Cup Final failed to find
the net during his time there in midfield.
Ryan Bertrand (pictured top) made 19 appearances in defence for Nottingham
Forest, only three of which ended in defeat, during his loan spell there
which has now ended.
The 21-year-old was part of the side which netted eight goals in two
games, beating Crystal Palace 3-0 and Derby County 5-2, although the
defender didn't score for the club. During his time there, Bertrand
accumulated six yellow cards.
Ben Gordon's successful loan to Kilmarnock has also come to an end. His
19-game spell for the Scottish side saw the left-back find the net once,
in a 3-0 win over Hamilton, which has helped the side to a fourth-place
position in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Scunthorpe United is the next club to request Gordon's abilities. He'll be
heading there from Cobham for another loan once he's recovered from a
hamstring injury.
Michael Woods has also returned from Notts County, whom he played for
twice, including a 10-minute appearance in the 2-1 giant killing of
Sunderland, while Adam Phillip is back with the Blues after a spell with
Yeovil Town.
