Andre Villas-Boas was delighted to welcome both to the club, but they now face a daunting challenge to impress the manager. It is a prospect the tenacious midfielder from Barcelona, who can also play as a central defender, is relishing. 'I think I am ready now, I am motivated and very excited but obviously it's the manager's decision so when he is ready to put me into the first team, that's when I will play,' said the 19-year-old Romeu, a Spanish Under 20 international who played at the World Cup this summer. 'I very much like the English style of play and have liked it for a long time. I think it's a kind of style that is close to the style I adopt when playing. 'This is a huge opportunity for me to play at a high level. I also have the opportunity to learn from all the players that are a part of the team - I really like John Terry, I think he is an excellent captain and player.' Lukaku is equally looking forward to the challenge, and unlike Romeu who stressed there is not one specific player he has modelled his game on, the Belgian will be among his childhood heroes. Having shaped his game around Didier Drogba, he also had Nicolas Anelka posters on his bedroom wall. 'I had two jerseys of Drogba, one to sleep and one to wear when I wore in the street to play,' the 18-year-old recalled. 'I had a poster and a poster of Anelka. I always wore the same shoes as Didier but not anymore, and I had Chelsea TV. To watch those little videos of two minutes, just to see how they train, I even did that. I wanted to be prepared. I was truly crazy. 'When Chelsea won 3-0 at Arsenal I was in the street screaming. When you're a true fan of a team and you can play there, it's the best thing in the world. Every day you think "Wow, this is really it". But you have to be focused and remember you're not a fan anymore. You don't look to the team to get success, you have to play with the team to have success. 'As a youngster the most important thing is to work hard and be ready when the coach needs you. In a club like Chelsea there is a lot more media attention and you have to really watch what you do on and off the pitch. There are a lot of children and you have to be a role model and an example. 'Mentally you have to be strong but the moment you have to play you have to show the coach he can count on you. Now I have to work hard to realise my dream, get into the starting 11 and hopefully be a Chelsea legend one day.' Lukaku also recounted his now famous tour of Stamford Bridge two years ago. 'I saw Stamford Bridge and thought "Wow",' he smiled. 'I asked the teacher what we are doing, and I couldn't say anything more because I always wanted to come to watch a game, and we were looking in the dressing room, the stands, and when my class was going to the dressing room I stayed next to the pitch just looking, imagining myself on the pitch next to Drogba and the other lads. 'Then the teacher came and asked what I was doing and I said one day I will play here. Then the day I signed here I called him and said "I told you I would play here".
