=== Summary ===
A young Chelsea's Under 18s side came back from 3-1 down to secure a point
at Cobham today.
After going a goal down, Ruben Loftus-Cheek netted his third goal in three
games to even the scores before the visiting side made it 3-1. The Blues
came back late in the game through a Lewis Baker penalty and a Nathan Ake
strike.
=== Team news ===
Chelsea lined-up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Mitchell Beeney between the
posts. Alistair Gordon, Rohan Ince, Ake and Adam Nditi made up the back
line.
In midfield Loftus-Cheek put in a fine performance, he played alongside
Tom Howard and captain Archange Nkumu (pictured). Up front the attacking
trio consisted of Anjur Osmanovic, Ismail Seremba and Baker.
=== First-half ===
Chelsea started brightly and produced the first real chance on goal when
Nkumu nodded a corner ball goal-ward only for the Ipswich keeper to pluck
his effort from the air.
Beeney made a good save soon after, as Ipswich proved their intent, but as
the 15-minute mark arrived, Chelsea were looking the stronger side, with
Baker also trying his luck on goal.
The home side looked strong going forward, with a commanding performance
in midfield from Loftus-Cheek, who soon had a shot on goal when he smashed
a Howard cross over the bar.
Then, with 20 minutes of football played, Nkumu was shown yellow for a
tough challenge on the half-way line. Soon after, Ipswich took the lead.
After winning a freekick 25 yards out from goal, Ipswich were able to send
a cross to the far post where their unmarked number 7 nodded in passed an
outstretched Beeney.
Chelsea immediately retaliated and within five minutes it was 1-1 as
Loftus-Cheek once again got his name on the score sheet. The midfielder
calmly volleyed home a Howard cross from close range with 27 minutes

But as the half-hour mark arrived, Ipswich went ahead once more when an
initial long shot was parried away by Beeney into the number 9's path. The
Ipswich striker made no mistake converting from close range.
End-to-end football ensued but without any real chances on goal, although
Baker did trouble the Ipswich defence on several occasions before the
half-time whistle blew.
=== Second-half ===
Youth team manager Adi Viveash made one change at the break, bringing on
Alex Kiwomya for Osmanovic and once against Chelsea started brightly.
Within the opening minutes, Howard and Seremba had both produced chances
on goal while Nkumu forced an acrobatic save to win a Chelsea corner.
But, despite Chelsea's promising start to the half, Ipswich would increase
the deficit further when their number 16 broke into the box and rounded
Beeney before calmly slotting home against the run of play.
With a two-goal deficit to overcome, Chelsea won a penalty when Gordon was
brought down in the area. Baker stepped up to take the spot kick and
expertly drilled into the bottom right.
Seconds later, with the Ipswich keeper off his line, Loftus-Cheek chipped
the ball goal-ward from 25 yards, beating the keeper but hitting the bar.
Viveash then introduced some fresh legs to the line-up and Chelsea began
to pressure further. As the game drew to a close, Chelsea netted the
equaliser when Ake tapped a corner ball in from close range.

Moments later, Alex Kiwomya tried to put Chelsea ahead after dribbling
down the pitch before drilling low into the keeper's arms. It was a strong
second-half display from the Blues as they battled to overcome their early
mistakes, which gifted Ipswich the lead.
=== The manager ===
Viveash was pleased with the second-half display but insisted the Blues
shouldn't have had to deal with a two-goal deficit.
'We were disappointed with the goals,' said Viveash. 'They were very soft
goals to concede.
'Now the boys need to have a weekend to reflect and then on Monday we'll
have an open and frank discussion because the concentration levels are not
great.
'Rubens is doing very well, and his performance was a big plus in the
second-half. It was a very young side, but Ipswich were also a young side,
so that's not really an excuse.
'We've just got to keep our concentration levels up because we can't score
three goals every game just to have a chance of winning.'
