Drogba, who captained the side, pounced in the 40th minute to head home his Chelsea team-mate Salomon Kalou's cross after the winger had picked up a crossfield pass from Newcastle's Cheik Tiote, before expertly beating his man. The Ivory Coast dominated the first half and should have been out of sight before the break, but they were guilty of wasting too many guilt-edged opportunities, with Arsenal striker Gervinho the biggest culprit. The Chelsea pair, however, did impress in what was a largely uninspiring game, before Kalou was replaced in the 63rd minute by Max Gradel. The Barclays Premier League was well represented, with both Yaya Toure and Kolo Toure in action alongside Drogba, Kalou, Tiote and Gervinho. It was role reversal from the first game for the Chelsea men as Burkina Faso were beaten 2-0, Drogba the creator of the first goal and Kalou the scorer on this occasion. It came after 16 minutes, Drogba controlling a throw wide on the right and despite minimal space, sending the ball into the danger zone where Kalou finished first-time with a sweet left-foot strike from 12 yards out. The second goal came on 82 minutes when Burkina Faso defender Bakary Kone headed over his keeper and into his own net. Kalou played well but his was unfortunately a truncated game when he appeared to pull muscle in the second half and was substituted. Captain Drogba played the full 90 minutes of what was a comfortable win. The wastefulness of Arsenal's Gervinho in front of goal was one of the main reasons the Ivorians didn't score more. He air-kicked one chance after Drogba had again opened up the Burkinabe defence. Kalou had a goalbound shot deflected over in the first half and a minute before the interval Drogba fired a shot in from distance that was too hot for the keeper to handle. Gervinho couldn't reach the rebound. Boubacar Barry in the Ivory Coast was busier in the second half and Burkina Faso did hit the bar with a header before the own goal put the result beyond doubt. Ivory Coast complete their group games on Monday against second-placed Angola who lie two points behind. Following on from a 100 per cent qualification campaign for the tournament, Monday evening's 2-0 win over Angola means the Elephants won three out of three group games without conceding a goal. A close-range finish from former Arsenal man Emmanuel Eboue in the first half and a second-half goal from Wilfried Bony sealed the victory before Drogba entered the action. Already guaranteed a place in the knockout stage ahead of kick-off, Ivory Coast made nine changes and there was good news with Salomon Kalou named among the substitutes having recovered from a minor hamstring injury that forced him off in the last game. Ivory Coast will now play joint host nation Equatorial Guinea in the quarter-finals, the match to take place on Saturday with a 7pm kick-off UK time. Equatorial Guinea, one of the lowest ranked nations ever to take part in the Finals, qualified below Zambia and at the expense of Libya and most surprisingly, Senegal. Another one of the pre-tournament favourites, Morocco, have joined Senegal in going out at the group stage.
