UNDER-21 PAIR LOANED OUT

Two members of the Chelsea Under-21 squad, Conor Clifford and Todd Kane,
have today (Thursday) joined League One clubs on loan until 5 January.
Clifford's move to Crawley Town, currently ninth in their division, is a
second loan this season for the Republic of Ireland Under-21
international, who was recently in the Ireland senior squad. In August he
went to Portsmouth for a month.
Having joined Chelsea in 2008, the midfielder was a member of the side
that won the 2010 FA Youth Cup, scoring the winner in the final, and
followed that up the next year by being part of the squad that won the
national Reserve League championship. This season he has made four
appearances for our Under-21s.
Now 21, Clifford has also gained first team experience on loan at
Plymouth, Notts County and Yeovil. He has not played for the Chelsea first
team.
Kane, who has been the captain of the Chelsea Under-21 side this season,
is loaned to Preston North End.
The 19-year-old right-back, who was part of our FA Youth Cup-winning side
last season, scored in the 2011 national Reserve League play-off when we
were crowned champions at that level. He is an England U19 international.
This season Kane has been an ever-present in the Under-21s, scoring once
in his nine appearances. Having been part of the Chelsea Academy since
Under 8s, this is his first loan.
Preston are currently 10th in League One.

BAMFORD IN MK DONS LOAN

Under-21 striker Patrick Bamford also completed a loan move on Thursday
afternoon, after joining MK Dons on loan until January 7.
Bamford, 19, who made two senior appearances for Nottingham Forest before
joining Chelsea in January.
Last season the striker scored six goals in seven Chelsea reserve games,
Bamford has netted three times during the current league campaign, in home
defeats against both Liverpool and Middlesbrough, as well as in the away
win at Manchester City.
Bamford made his debut for England Under 18s in November 2010 and since
his move to Chelsea has graduated to England Under 19s.
MK Dons currently sit third in League One, with 33 points from 19 games,
five points adrift of leaders Tranmere. They are next in action on
Saturday afternoon when they entertain Colchester United.
