Shakhtar snap up Taison for €15m

Metalist Kharkiv midfielder Taison has moved to Shakhtar Donetsk for €15
million, despite reportedly attracting the attention of Chelsea.
Taison, 24, had spoken about his desire to play with former Internacional
team-mate Oscar again, leading to speculation that the European champions
could be set to make a move for him.
However, Shakhtar made the first move and activated the Brazilian's
release clause in order to ensure that he would play at the Donbass Arena.
"On January 10, the presidents of Shakhtar and Metalist negotiated the
transfer of Taison from the Kharkiv club to the Donetsk team," a statement
on the club's official site read. "Shakhtar paid $20m (€15m), and we got
a player who really wanted to join our team. The Brazilian player's
five-year contract started on January 11."
Shakhtar are currently 13 points clear of Dnipro in the Ukrainian league
and face Borussia Dortmund in the last-16 of the Champions League.
