U18聯賽第24輪 http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3718256/ UNDER-18 REPORT: READING 2 CHELSEA 3 Posted on: Mon 17 Mar 2014 == Summary == Our Under-18s secured an impressive away win in Berkshire thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham, Reece Mitchell and Charly Musonda. A 2-0 lead was cancelled out as DeJuane Taylor-Crossdale and Nana Owusu fired the hosts level, before a wonderful strike from Musonda (pictured above) sealed the points for the young Blues. == Team news == Six schoolboys started for the youth team as Joe Edwards, the Under-16s manager, took charge of the young side. The leading goalscorer Dominic Solanke continued up front, supported from out wide by fellow Under-16 Tammy Abraham and Reece Mitchell. Jordan Houghton captained the team from central defence, partnered by Jake Clarke-Salter, with Jay Dasilva and Ruben Sammut making up the back four. Charlie Colkett, Mukhtar Ali and Charly Musonda made up the midfield trio, while Bradley Collins continued in goal. == First half == Chelsea started brightly and both Mitchell and Musonda saw efforts fly narrowly wide inside the opening 10 minutes, the latter a free kick that had goalkeeper Lewis Ward scrambling to cover. The hosts tested Collins with their first shot after a quarter of an hour as Nana Owusu struck low but the goalkeeper was equal to the strike. Yet the visitors remained in control and Musonda went close to grabbing the lead after 19 minutes. Mitchell spun away down the left and fed in the overlapping Dasilva, who crossed dangerously. Musonda was lurking and his effort was struck well but Ward made a good stop. Chelsea, though, were not to be kept out for much longer and soon grabbed the game's opening goal. Good work down the right flank saw us advance and Abraham's fierce drive beat Ward and was adjudged to have crossed the line before a seemingly offside Solanke prodded it into the back of the net. http://www.chelseafc.com/javaImages/8e/7d/0,,10268~12680590,00.jpg
薩蘭奇 Musonda stung the palms of Ward and Solanke was well marshalled by the defender after more promising interplay down the right between Sammut and Abraham, before we doubled our advantage just after the half-hour mark. A wonderful team counter-attack fashioned the opportunity as they broke out of defending a long throw and galloped clear in numbers. Solanke and Musonda exchanged passes excellently on the halfway line before advancing, Abraham slid a low centre across goal and Mitchell was on hand to stab home at the back post (pictured below). http://www.chelseafc.com/javaImages/8d/7d/0,,10268~12680589,00.jpg
米切爾 Kyle Scott replaced Colkett in the final few minutes of the half and almost had an immediate impact as he slid in at the far post following another bright Blues break. Sammi Fridjonsson tested Collins late on before the young Royals cut the deficit in added time at the end of the half. Strength from Du'Juane Taylor-Crossdale in the box won the opening and he slotted the ball into the far corner beyond the goalkeeper. == Second half == The hosts started the second period strongly and were level inside six minutes of the restart. An enterprising move after a period of pressure was rounded with an emphatic finish from Nana Owusu into the bottom far corner. That equaliser was to test the steel and resolve of the young Chelsea side and they responded positively, regaining a foothold in midfield and soon regaining the lead on the hour mark. Mitchell worked excellently down the left and kept hold of possession well before laying back for Musonda, and the young Belgian did the rest, bending a wonderful effort into the top corner from 25 yards out. Substitute Lewis Collins brought a good block from a covering defender and Sammut was defending strongly in a slightly unfamiliar right-back position as the hosts came once again looking to level terms. However, Chelsea remained a threat on the break throughout the game and continued to create chances. Mitchell's mazy run brought a smart stop from Ward after Solanke had done well to create space with an off-the-ball run, before the schoolboy striker also brought a save from the goalkeeper after escaping in behind the defence. Collins fired over as the final minutes ticked by but the young Royals could not come from behind for a second time and Chelsea claimed an impressive three points on their travels. Next up for the Academy is a trip to Manchester United for Dermot Drummy's Under-21s this Friday, 21 March, a game that is being screened live on Chelsea TV. == Manager reaction == Edwards was pleased to see his young players continue their development and match a strong performance with a winning result against older and stronger opponents. Speaking to the official Chelsea website after the game, he said: 'It was really pleasing for us to bring a young team to a place like Reading, that is renowned for being a difficult place to come and get a result. 'Our younger boys have had a lot of exposure to Under-18 football recently and, if you look back at the games against Leicester and Fulham, we performed well but just lacked that cutting edge and ability to convert good performances into results. 'We started well today and probably should have had more goals inside the first half an hour but to go 2-0 up and then get pegged back to 2-2 was a test for us. It was always going to be about digging in when we went into the latter stages of the game, against opponents that were superior physically, and the winning mentality and grit we showed was probably the most pleasing thing today.' Edwards also praised a wonderful team effort for the second goal and the individual exertions of Reece Mitchell in attack. 'The second goal has to be up there for one of the goals of the season, it was fantastic. I thought we looked dangerous on the break all game today and that's a side of our game that we don't usually get to show because of the way opponents set up against us. 'In previous games the boys have been so focused on dealing with bigger opponents that we haven't been at our best on the ball so we made a point to get control of the ball today. 'Reece Mitchell was excellent. When you're playing with a young side you need your older, more experienced players to make a difference and he did that for us today.'
