U18聯賽第27輪精華 http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3738736/ YOUTH REPORT: MANCHESTER UNITED 1 CHELSEA 1 Sat, Mar 29, 2014 == Summary == Our Under-18 team won a well-earned league point on their travels in the North-West earlier today (Saturday) to strengthen their position in fourth place in the league table. Jordan Houghton (pictured) put the visitors ahead in the first half with a great strike from 25 yards before United levelled after the interval through Joe Riley. Both teams had opportunities to win the game in the final 20 minutes but had to settle for a share of the points. == Team news == There were two changes from the side that secured a positive draw at Fulham last time out as schoolboy Mukhtar Ali came into midfield and Reece Mitchell replaced Tammy Abraham up front. The back five remained unchanged once again as Bradley Collins continued in goal behind a defence of Fankaty Dabo, Jake Clarke-Salter, George Brady and Ola Aina. Ali was joined in midfield by Charlie Colkett and Jordan Houghton, while Mitchell was supported in attack by Jay Dasilva and Charly Musonda from the flanks. == Report == Viveash's side enjoyed large control of the first period and were ahead inside a quarter of an hour as Houghton fired an excellent strike into the far corner from 25 yards to notch his second goal of the campaign. Dasilva blazed over the bar from eight yards after some great build-up play down the left flank between Clarke-Salter and Houghton as the visitors looked to extend their early advantage, before Joel Pereira in the United goal denied Musonda and then Dasilva in quick succession. After the restart, positive combination play between Dasilva and Colkett fashioned an opportunity for the central midfielder. Dasilva reversed a pass from the byline towards Colkett, who had continued his forward run, though the England youth international could only slice his final shot wide from six yards on his weaker right foot. United responded and were soon level as Joe Riley grabbed the equaliser for the hosts. A long diagonal forward pass presented the advancing midfield man with the opening and he slotted the ball confidently into the bottom corner beyond Collins. Both sides had chances to snatch the win in the final quarter of the game. United fired wide on a couple of occasions, while Chelsea threatened as substitute Ambrose Gnahore shot straight at Pereira and Brady headed narrowly wide in the final few minutes. Next up for the Under-18s is a home league encounter with Bolton Wanderers next Saturday 5 April, before Viveash's side entertain Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in the FA Youth Cup semi-final first-leg on Thursday 10 April. Supporters wishing to attend the London derby cup clash can still purchase tickets online, priced £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. Before that our Under-21 side travel to Stoke City's Brittania Stadium on Friday 4 April. == Reaction == Viveash paid tribute to his team's efforts over the last seven days, where they have secured draws away at Fulham and United as well as a home win against West Brom last weekend. Speaking to the official Chelsea website after the draw in Manchester, he said: 'It was a massive physical effort from us today but there have been a lot of positives over the last week. To play three games in seven days with a lot of schoolboys involved is a tough schedule, even for 18-year-olds, but we've come out of it with two draws and a win so it's been a positive seven days.' The manager felt his side were unfortunate not to have extended their lead before the break as several chances were squandered. 'We certainly had the better of the first half and scored a great goal through Jordan Houghton. We had enough chances but unfortunately the cutting edge wasn't quite there and when you don't take the chances you get then you do get made to pay. 'We knew we were going to tire in the second half but physically it's been a fantastic effort over this week and now we can give the players a couple of days' rest to recharge their bodies. The players have got good minutes into them and we've had no new injuries so we build up nicely in the next 10 days to the Youth Cup semi-finals.' The youngsters have conceded just one goal in their last three games and Viveash was also eager to praise the defensive efforts of his team over the last week. 'The back four have been very good in the last three games. It's been the same back four and goalkeeper and they've done really well to only concede one goal. Today I thought Houghton and Colkett were outstanding in midfield as well. They had a great balance about them, gave us a driving performance as well as a lot of guile and it was great for Jordan to get the goal. 'For Charlie to play two full matches and one half in a week is a massive step forward for him and I think he's hitting real peak form at the right time of the season for the big games we have coming up.'
