U18聯賽第30輪 http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3788942/ UNDER-18 REPORT: CHELSEA 0 MANCHESTER CITY 4 Posted on: Sat 26 Apr 2014 == Summary == A youth team featuring six Under-15s from the start went down to defeat at Cobham in their penultimate league game of the campaign. First-half goals from Thierry Ambrose, Pablo Maffeo and Kean Bryan, the latter a converted penalty, gave the visitors an imposing lead at the break, before Bryan added a fourth with an excellent free-kick shortly after the restart. The young Blues worked hard throughout the second period but were unable to reduce the deficit as the recorded only their third home loss of the campaign. == Team news == With preparations for the FA Youth Cup final first leg next week in full swing, it was a young side that started against a Manchester City team looking for a point that would secure their place in the end-of-season play-offs. Captain George Brady was the sole first year scholar involved, with three Under-15s comprising the remainder of the back four as Josh Grant, Richard Nartey and Trevoh Chalobah began in defence. Under-16s Ruben Sammut, Mukhtar Ali and Kyle Scott made up the midfield trio, while Ike Ugbo led the line up front supported from out wide by Isaac Christie-Davies and Faiq Bolkiah. Jared Thompson started in goal. == First half == The game burst into life right from the start and the visitors were awarded a penalty after two minutes as Brady brought down Denziel Boadu in the box as the midfielder advanced towards goal. Winger Brandon Barker stepped up from 12 yards, though his effort was saved well, down low by Thompson in the Blues goal (pictured above). Ali (pictured below) forced a strong one-handed save from Billy O'Brien after eight minutes at the end of a good move from the hosts, though City were ahead a minute later and it came courtesy of another spot-kick. Thierry Ambrose was felled by Brady and this time Kean Bryan stepped up and made no mistake as he dispatched the ball high and into the corner. http://www.chelseafc.com/javaImages/1a/20/0,,10268~12787738,00.jpg
阿里 Chelsea responded well to the setback and enjoyed a strong spell of possession for 10 minutes, though chances were limited as City defended strongly and with numbers behind the ball. The visitors extended their advantage midway through the half after Barker's good work down the left paid dividends. He got in behind down the left channel and supplied a dangerous ball into Ambrose's feet in the box. The striker took a touch to control and finished expertly on the swivel The game remained a fairly even contest but the young Sky Blues were proving more ruthless in front of goal and that was displayed again after 33 minutes as they grabbed a third goal. Pablo Maffeo won the ball on halfway and continued his burst forward, exchanging passes neatly with striker Amrbose before collecting the return and finished confidently into the bottom far corner. Ambrose fired high over the bar and Jack Byrne hit an effort narrowly wide from 25 yards in the final minutes of the half as the visitors went in at the break with a three-goal lead. == Second half == There was one change for the hosts at the break as Cole Dasilva replaced Nartey in defence and Brady had to be alert in the opening exchanges after the restart to make a well-timed sliding challenge inside his own six-yard box. City soon had a fourth goal, however, as Bryan grabbed his second of the afternoon. A free-kick on the right of the box was teed up for the midfield man and he drilled a low effort powerfully beyond Thompson and into the bottom corner. Brady blocked well from Jorge Intima's effort as City remained in control of possession and worked the ball patiently waiting for openings to appear, though the hosts were grafting hard to close down spaces and opponents. Scott (pictured below) worked tirelessly to keep on pressing City defenders on the ball, though there was to be no reward in the game for that effort as the young Blues went down to defeat. http://www.chelseafc.com/javaImages/1c/20/0,,10268~12787740,00.jpg
凱爾˙史考特 Next up for the Academy is the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final against Fulham at Craven Cottage this Monday, 28 April, kick-off 7.45pm.Tickets are available from the Fulham website, where further information can also be found. == Manager reaction == Joe Edwards, the Under-16s manager who took the game, admitted an unsure start from his side cost them but praised their efforts against an older, more physical opposition. Speaking to the official Chelsea website after the game, he said: 'It was always going to be massive test with Man City coming here going for the league but I was quite surprised by how nervy we looked at the start of the game. 'The boys have had a lot of these sorts of challenges in the second half of this season but we didn't really get going. In the second half we knew the physical aspect would play a part so we changed the tactics and dropped off into more of a mid-block and the discipline and work-rate that we showed was fantastic. It was a real positive how we responded in the second half. 'It was another fantastic experience for a lot of the younger boys and we learnt that you'll get punished for mistakes you make in games. Ike Ugbo worked his socks off and his movement was great and it was nice to have Kyle Scott back after international duty as well. We have a lot of positives to take away despite the result.'
