U18聯賽季後賽第二輪 https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/03/ under-18s-report--chelsea-0-everton-2.html Under-18s report: Chelsea 0 Everton 2 Sat, 21 Mar 2015 Our Under-18s went down to a defeat in their second play-off game as a goal in each half gave Everton victory. The Blues had a host of good opportunities before the match's opener right at the end of the first half, but the Toffees benefited from ruthlessness finishing in front of goal from James Graham and Harry Charsley and remained top of the top play-off tier. == Team news == There were five changes from the side that kicked off the play-off round with an emphatic 6-4 win at Tottenham last weekend. Bradley Collins returned in goal while Fikayo Tomori came back in to partner Ali Suljic in central defence. Charlie Wakefield and Josh Grant continued at right-back and left-back respectively. Kyle Scott, Tammy Abraham and Dominic Solanke were the three other additions to the team, with Scott joining Mukhtar Ali in midfield and Jeremie Boga operating in the number 10 role. Solanke led the line up front supported from out wide by Abraham and Charly Musonda. == First half == Everton produced an impressive performance themselves last week as they beat Middlesbrough 4-0, and the visitors started brightly as captain Charsley fired the first shot of the morning narrowly wide. The Blues fashioned a chance for Solanke shortly after, with Ali finding Wakefield down the right flank and the wideman delivering a super cross into the box, however the striker's header lacked power and was aimed straight at keeper Mateusz Hewelt. The England Under-18 forward again tested the Toffees stopper after 15 minutes as he latched on to Scott's pass to drive a left-footed strike towards goal, yet the effort was again too central and Hewelt saved. Edwards's side continued to create the better chances and James Graham had to react quickly to clear Musonda's shot off the line with Hewelt beaten. The visiting stopper remained the busier of the two keepers and saved again from Solanke and then Abraham during a strong period for the home side. Everton weathered the storm and rallied to snatch the opener in the final minute of the half. Liam Walsh swung in a free-kick from the right and Graham powered a header into the far corner beyond the despairing dive of Collins. == Second half == Charlie Colkett was introduced for the second period and his influence was instant as his in-swinging free-kick caused problems in the Everton box. Solanke rose highest to make contact with the cross but his header was high and comfortably gathered by Hewelt. Down the other end, Collins was required to make a crucial stop after an hour to thwart Callum Connolly. The Blues keeper reacted quickly to get down low and push the powerful strike away with a strong hand. From the rebound, Dowell curled a shot looking for the top corner but Collins was equal to the effort again. Tomori burst forward down the left and struck a decent chance wide before the young Toffees extended their advantage in the 74th minute. It was a super solo effort from Dowell, beating two defenders before bending a strike into the far top corner. Chelsea pushed to find a route back into the game and Abraham fired narrowly over from close range late on. Everton might have added a third on the break as Charsley narrowly missed the target following Michael Donohue's centre. == Manager reaction == Joe Edwards spoke after the game of a different challenge posed by Everton and reflected on a few first half-chances that were thwarted by the visiting goalkeeper. 'We saw a different game than we've had at Cobham this season so it's been a good learning experience for us,' he told the official Chelsea website. 'Everton deserve some credit because they're a very physical, hard-working side who will fight for every ball and they know how to manage games like this. 'Their keeper had one of those games in the first half where he got in the way of everything and you do sense the importance of those moments when you're playing a game like this. The second half became very frustrating for us and stop-start but that's a part of football that we have to deal with. 'We've certainly stepped up a level now in these play-offs. It's a blow for our hopes of winning the league but these are the difficult games we want to be involved in and we're here to learn from these experiences.' Our youth team return to league action next weekend when they travel to Aston Villa on Saturday 28 March. In other Academy fixture news, the kick-off time for our Under-18s' home game against Manchester City on Saturday 9 May has been changed. Our final match of the league season will now begin at 1pm.
