Following our 1-0 win over the Thailand All-Stars in Bangkok, Jose
Mourinho reflected on a good start to the trip and an invaluable learning
experience for the younger players.
The Blues boss fielded different teams in each half, and the decisive goal
came in the first, scored by Dominic Solanke, after good build-up play
between Izzy Brown, Charlie Colkett and Ola Aina.
'My players are tired after a long season but we tried to play a positive
game,' said Mourinho.
'The fact it was only 1-0 and open until the end gave some emotion. For
the Thai players it's always a good experience to play a team like Chelsea
so we're happy.'
The manager explained why Diego Costa was only involved for a short time.
'Because we had so many players injured and in surgery we asked Diego to
come and try to play, which he did for 25 minutes,' said the Portuguese.
'After that he was feeling tired so we had to protect him. He wanted to
come, he respects the fans and he tried to play.'
Mourinho gave a number of youngsters an opportunity, and he was pleased
with the way they performed.
'I'm happy with them,' he stated. 'What I tried to do was play some of the
more experienced players at the same time to give support to the boys.
'In the first half I played Cech, Ivanovic, Mikel and Remy, and in the
second I played, Terry , Hazard, Diego Costa, Matic and Azpilicueta.
'For them it was a fantastic experience to play in front of a big crowd,
it was very good for them.'
