U18南區聯賽第10輪精華 https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/10/ under-18s-report--fulham-2-chelsea-2.html Under-18s report: Fulham 2 Chelsea 2 Sat 17 Oct 2015 Chelsea Under-18s came from behind to claim an away point courtesy of a late stoppage-time equaliser this morning (Saturday). The Blues took the lead after 20 minutes, St Clair converting from the penalty spot after Jacob Maddox had been fouled. Yet the young Whites turned the game around in the second period as goals from defender Moritz Jens and Dennis Adeniran put them in control. It seemed like the hosts would inflict a first defeat in four games on the Blues, yet Richard Nartey's precise finish in the fifth minute of stoppage time earned the visitors a point. The league leaders made two changes from their 5-0 home victory over Swansea seven days previously, with Ruben Sammut and Harvey St Clair returning to the side. Sammut partnered Trevoh Chalobah in central midfield, with Charlie Wakefield, Isaac Christie-Davies and St Clair providing the attacking support for striker Maddox. The back five was unchanged as captain Josh Grant, Joseph Colley, Nartey and Cole Dasilva protecting Jared Thompson in goal. It was a high-intensity opening at Motspur Park with both sides putting pressure on the ball and eager to regain possession at every opportunity. Stephen Humphrys brought a routine save from Thompson early on following Harry Paton's clipped cross from the right, while Christie-Davies saw a powerful drive blocked behind. The visitors were in front after 20 minutes courtesy of a penalty neatly dispatched by St Clair. There was no room for interpretation for the referee as Cassion Thomas clattered into Maddox after the makeshift striker had been denied by goalkeeper Josh Lukwata following a weak header back to the keeper. St Clair stepped up from 12 yards and buried his spot-kick into the bottom corner. Fulham responded as the dangerous Humphrys fired a low effort on the turn that was comfortable for Thompson diving down to his right, before the Chelsea keeper was forced to push Thorsteinsson's swinging cross behind for a corner, from which Moritz Jens headed just off-target. Lukwata back-pedalled expertly to push Chalobah's curling strike over before Thompson denied Kwietniewski in the final action of the half as Fulham broke swiftly out from the back. The second half restart was a quieter affair, with St Clair's deflected effort the only chance of note in the opening 15 minutes. Fulham substitute Josh Walker tested Thompson with an ultimately tame header that lacked power, before the home side were level in the game midway through the half. A free-kick was swung in from the right and centre-back Jens powered a head into the back of the net from close range. Eight minutes later, the home side had turned it around and put themselves in front. Adeniran was brought down in the box by Grant and the midfielder stepped up himself to convert from the spot. The visitors pushed for a leveller in the final quarter of an hour but were largely restricted by Fulham's strong defending. Maddox had a great chance late on as Wakefield slide a perfect pass through to him, however Lukwata raced off his line to make the save. It looked like that would be enough to earn Fulham all three points, however the visitors battled right until the death and were rewarded with an equaliser five minutes into stoppage time, Nartey finding the far bottom corner with a precise low finish. == Manager reaction == Under-18s assistant Jody Morris took charge of the game in Joe Edwards's absence and reflected on a battling approach that earned the team a point despite not playing at their best Speaking to the official Chelsea, he said: 'Fulham were a physical side but we knew that was going to be the case coming into the game. 'We didn't play particularly well on the ball. Our game plan was to control the game with our passing but we didn't stick to that very well and lacked our usual quality. 'However, the fact we equalised so late on makes it a good point for us. I can't fault our work-rate and willingness to try to get level; we try to instil that winning mentality in the boys and, despite it not being our best day at the office, we deserved our point.' The youth team return to action next Saturday 24 October when they take on Reading at Cobham.
