U18南區聯賽第12輪精華 http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/10/ under-18s-report--chelsea-v-norwich-city.html Under-18s report: Chelsea 7 Norwich City 0 Sat 31 Oct 2015 Chelsea Under-18s delivered a Halloween treat as they ran out comfortable winners in the Under-18 Premier League this morning (Saturday). An 18-minute first-half spell proved decisive as goals from Miro Muheim, Ike Ugbo, Joseph Colley and Charlie Wakefield sent the home side in 4-0 up at the break. Muheim added a second after an hour from the spot before Mukhtar Ali and then Ugbo netted again late on as the Blues went five points clear at the top of the south section. Joe Edwards made five changes from the side that were 2-0 winners over Reading a week previously, with Ruben Sammut and Jacob Maddox having featured for the Under-21s the evening before. Ugbo returned from international duty with the England Under-17s at the World Cup in Chile to lead the line up front and was supported by Wakefield, Isaac Christie-Davies and Muheim. After operating with three at the back last week, the young Blues returned to a back four consisting of captain Josh Grant, Trevoh Chalobah and Swedish centre-back pair Colley and Ali Suljic. Goalkeeper Jared Thompson continued between the sticks, while Ali partnered Mason Mount in central midfield. The table-topping young Blues went into the game on a five-match unbeaten league run and started brightly in the Cobham sunshine. Ugbo shot just wide and was then denied by Canaries keeper Fergal Hale-Brown as he latched on to a rebound following Ali's blocked drive. Colley produced a well-timed sliding challenge to thwart Benny Ashley-Seal's progress as the forward bore down on goal after a rare Norwich foray forward before the hosts produced a frightening 18-minute attacking blitz that reaped four goals and effectively ended the contest. The lively Muheim, who had featured for half an hour off the bench for the Under-21s the evening previously, started the goalscoring after 13 minutes as he advanced down the left flank, beat defender Louis Ramsay on the outside and rifled his finish beyond Hale-Brown into the far corner off the inside of the post. The Swiss youth international then hit a bouncing half-volley just wide following a quick Blues break, before the wideman caused problems again in the build-up to the second goal as he cut inside from the left and struck powerfully towards goal. His effort was straight at the goalkeeper, who could only palm the fierce drive in front of him towards the alert Ugbo, who pounced and turned in the rebound from close range. Muheim was involved again as Edwards's side extended their advantage before the half-hour mark, swinging in a dangerous free-kick that Suljic rose high to turn towards goal. Hale-Brown pushed it away but this time Colley was on hand to convert with a sweeping finish. Two minutes later it was 4-0 and this time the danger was created from the opposite flank as Wakefield picked up the ball on the right, drove towards goal on a mazy run that saw him beat three Norwich defenders before placing his finish into the back of the net via the inside of the far post. Ugbo threatened to grab a fifth before the interval after lovely combination play with Mount but the striker's poked finish was straight at Hale-Brown. The Canaries improved after the restart as we eased the foot slightly off the gas, though Thompson still remained untroubled in the Chelsea goal. After an hour, Muheim was presented with a perfect opportunity to get his second of the morning after Wakefield had been felled in the box by Jamal Lewis. The forward stepped up and made no mistake from 12 yards as he buried his strike into the bottom right corner for his fifth goal of the campaign. Hale-Brown pushed away Christie-Davies's cross-shot and Ali saw a deflected drive fly over the bar as the home side continued hunting for goals. Down the other end, Thompson was forced into a comfortable low save as Ashley-Seal looked to test the keeper from distance, yet the Blues always looked the more likely to score again and that proved the case as Ali turned in Ugbo's set-up from a few yards out with 13 minutes remaining. In the final exchanges, Ugbo was denied by an excellent block inside the box after good work from substitute Hubert Adamczyk and Ali placed a penalty wide following a foul on Christie-Davies in the box, before Ugbo rounded off a comprehensive win with a seventh goal late on. == Manager reaction == After the game, Joe Edwards reflected on another pleasing morning for his side and highlighted the development work taking place across the age groups with a number of his players. 'It was a very deserved win for us today,' he told the official Chelsea website. 'We played some excellent football and could have scored a few more goals too. 'The performances of our second-years in particular was very strong; the likes of Miro, Charlie, Mukhtar, Isaac and Ali put in strong performances. They really helped us to control the game throughout. 'There's a group of second-years trying to move towards the Under-21 league team; their work with the older players in training and games on a weekly basis really tells at this level and we are reaping the benefits of that in the Under-18 programme.' The youth team return to action next weekend when they travel to Aston Villa on Saturday 7 November.
