U21聯賽第11輪 https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/01/ under-21s-report--sunderland-v-chelsea.html Under-21s report: Sunderland 0 Chelsea 0 Sun 31 Jan 2016 Chelsea Under-21s picked up a point on their travels in the league with a hard-fought draw against the league leaders this lunchtime (Sunday). A game of few clear-cut chances in the freezing cold north-east could not be settled, with Jake Clarke-Salter coming closest before the break with a header cleared off the line. The result means the Blues remain unbeaten away from home in the Under-21 Premier League this season. Adi Viveash made three changes from the side that booked a place in the semi-finals of the Premier League International Cup with a 5-2 win over Tottenham three days previously as Kyle Scott, Jay Dasilva and first-year scholar Trevoh Chalobah came into the team. Dasilva and Chalobah lined up in a back four alongside Ola Aina and Clarke-Salter, with Bradley Collins once again between the sticks. Scott partnered Jordan Houghton in central midfield, with Fankaty Dabo, Kasey Palmer and Reece Mitchell providing the attacking support for striker Tammy Abraham, who hit 21 goals for the season in the midweek victory over Spurs. The Black Cats included a number of overage players in their ranks, including 24-year-old right-back Adam Matthews and 29-year-old former PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen. Yet it was the visitors making the early progress as former Blues scholar George Brady blocked Abraham's low shot and Mikael Mandron got his body in the way of Chalobah's effort after Palmer's teasing inswinging free-kick. On a patchy pitch, much of the early sparring took place in midfield, with the Blues generally controlling possession without causing too much of a threat to Maksymilian Stryjek's goal. Aina, who scored a wonder goal from the halfway line against Tottenham on Thursday, blocked well as Ethan Robson took aim at goal from 20 yards out before Viveash's side came close to an opener midway through the half. Palmer delivered a flat corner from the left and Clarke-Salter rose highest to meet the ball in the air, however the defender was denied as Liam Agnew nodded clear off the line with the goalkeeper beaten. We continued to create the better opportunities throughout the half, with Palmer curling a free-kick narrowly over, Scott volleying off-target having been teed up well by Mitchell on the edge of the box and then Stryjek gathering comfortably from another Palmer free-kick. Sunderland restarted with a promising half-chance as Rees Greenwood latched on to a ball over the top but could not make sufficient contact to trouble Collins. Houghton fired over down the other end but the league leaders were much improved after the interval and Mandron tested Collins with a fierce low drive. As the second period progressed, it remained an even contest and the tactical detail in midfield continued to be a key component. Mitchell dragged a shot wide but it was the hosts enjoying the better of the game as Collins saved from Matthews and then thwarted Mandron with a brave stop at the striker's feet. The Blues stopper remained the busier of the two keepers and held on well to Ethan Robson's free-kick as Sunderland attackers waited to capitalise on any rebound in the six-yard box. With four minutes remaining, Palmer had a decent opportunity in the air following Dasilva's cross but his header lacked any power and both sides were forced into settling for a share of the spoils as the Blues played out a goalless draw for the first time at this age group since April. The Under-21s are next in action on Wednesday 17 February when they host Norwich City in the Under-21 Premier League.
