U18聯賽季後賽第六輪 https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/04/ under-18s-report--chelsea-v-liverpool.html Under-18s report: Chelsea 2 Liverpool 2 Fri 29 Apr 2016 Chelsea Under-18s shared the league points in their final home game of the campaign as a brace from Ike Ugbo twice cancelled out Liverpool goals at Aldershot. Herbie Kane fired the visitors in front before the first of Ugbo's equalisers three minutes later. Adam Phillips then made it 2-1 to the Reds and they had numerous opportunities to put the game to bed put for the goalkeeping excellence of Nathan Baxter. The Chelsea striker and league's top goalscorer then struck 15 minutes from time to earn a point for the home side. The result means Joe Edwards's side have gone the whole season undefeated at home, a run stretching 19 games in league and Cup. Four of those involved in our historic FA Youth Cup final success two days previously at Stamford Bridge started at Aldershot as Edwards's side looked to keep alive their slim chances of winning the national league title. Baxter featured in all eight Cup ties on the road to silverware and he kept his place in goal protected by a back four of schoolboy Marc Guehi, captain Josh Grant, Richard Nartey and Cole Dasilva. Jacob Maddox and Ugbo were second-half substitutes on Wednesday but joined to comprise an attacking force that also consisted of widemen Charlie Wakefield and Miro Muheim. Luke McCormick partnered Under-16 Tariq Uwakwe in central midfield and it was the latter with our first sight at goal in the game after five minutes, combining well with Muheim before being thwarted by an excellent challenge from Kane Lewis. However, the Merseysiders enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges as Phillips first sliced off-target and then saw a looping header drop narrowly over the bar before playing his part in the game's opening goal after 15 minutes. It was a sweeping break forward from Neil Critchley's side, with Phillips supplying Kane to finish confidently beyond Baxter into the bottom corner. Parity was restored in less than three minutes as our trusty marksman Ugbo stepped up to level the score. Muheim swung in a teasing free-kick from the right and the striker rose highest to nod the ball beyond goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. Edwards might have hoped the leveller would kick-start his side into action but it was Liverpool celebrating another goal with 23 minutes on the clock. Brooks Lennon supplied a clever pass forward to find the supporting run of Phillips and the midfielder steered his finish low and into the corner, leaving Baxter with no chance. The Chelsea stopper then saved from Lennon as the wideman got on the end of a cross at the back post before denying defender Michel Parker in the air as the young Blues struggled to deal with deliveries into the box from the visitors. Liverpool were left wondering how they held only a one-goal advantage at the break as they peppered Baxter's goal with opportunities in the final minutes of the half. Our 17-year-old keeper flung to his left to push away Lennon's header before he produced a brilliant double save to keep out Ben Woodburn's shot and then Lennon's follow-up as the Blues breathed a sigh of relief on hearing the half-time whistle. Baxter was called quickly back into action after the restart, making a smart stop to push Woodburn's strike over the crossbar before Kane's deflected drive flew inches wide of the post with the goalkeeper deceived having dived in the opposite direction. Edwards had made tactical adjustments at the break, reverting to three central defenders and wing-backs in an effort to shore up proceedings and introduce a greater threat for his side. Maddox tested Kelleher with a shot that lacked power on a rare forward foray before Woodburn threatened again down the other end, Baxter watching the low strike and gathering comfortably. Edwards's side ensured a grandstand finale to the contest as they snatched an equaliser out of the blue with 15 minutes remaining. Ugbo found space in front of the Reds central defenders and advanced to the edge of the box before dispatching a neat finish into the back of the net. It was the striker's 24th goal in all competitions this season and took him top of the league's golden boot standings. Moments later, he spurned a promising opportunity for a hat-trick with a header that flew over as the game opened up, while Ovie Ejaria’s chip floated just wide at the end of a Liverpool counter-attack. Substitute Martell Taylor-Crossdale's shot was pushed behind by Kelleher and Kane squandered another bright opening before Baxter denied substitute Toni Gomes in the last action of note. It means the destination of the Under-18 Premier League national title remains with Manchester City, who will seal the crown with victory against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow (Saturday). Edwards's side conclude their campaign with a visit to Blackburn on Saturday 7 May.
