U21聯賽第19輪 https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/05/ under-21s-report--chelsea-v-everton.html Under-21s report: Chelsea 0 Everton 0 Mon 2 May 2016 Chelsea Under-21s rose a place to fifth in the league table following a goalless home draw this lunchtime (Monday). Adi Viveash made four changes from the side that were confident winners up at Middlesbrough a week previously, with goalkeeper Nathan Baxter, Jake Clarke-Salter, Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Sammut coming into the team. All four played in our FA Youth Cup final success last week, with Baxter making his Under-21s debut. Dion Conroy joined Clarke-Salter and Tomori in a back three protecting Baxter in goal. Skipper Fanktay Dabo, Josimar Quintero, Ruben Sammut and Ola Aina lined up across the midfield, with Kasey Palmer and trialist Yasin Ben El-Mhanni supporting Reece Mitchell in attack. David Unsworth's young Toffees made four changes from the side that started when they beat the Blues 2-0 in the reverse fixture just three weeks previously, a defeat that was the first inflicted on our Under-21s in the league in nine matches. The conditions at Aldershot were slightly more favourable for football in comparison to Southport's Haig Avenue in the previous meeting but it was a quiet opening for this Bank Holiday Monday lunchtime start. Mitchell stretched but failed to make contact to Dabo's teasing cross from the right before Mateusz Hewelt, the visiting goalkeeper, saved comfortably from Palmer's long-range free-kick. Another Palmer set-play threatened but the looping effort dropped too late to trouble Hewelt while the visitors forced a first save from debutant Baxter as Williams's low strike was gathered comfortably by the 17-year-old. The half continued to be contested predominantly in midfield areas with only half-chances fashioned intermittently. El-Mhanni lashed a low centre across the face of goal from the right but the supporting cast were too slow to react before Clarke-Salter demonstrated markedly swifter reaction skills to thwart the progress of Calum Dyson down the other end after the striker had skipped beyond the onrushing Baxter. Tammy Abraham, introduced midway through proceedings in the first period in place of the injured Mitchell, came close to breaking the deadlock in somewhat inadvertent fashion late in the half. Aina drifted infield from the left and curled a shot towards goal that deflected heavily off the striker but flew into the grateful arms of Hewelt. While the Blues still have three league games remaining to complete their 2015/16 programme, this was the final action of the campaign for the visitors and the match certainly had an end-of-season feel to it as the action restarted. Aina fired narrowly off-target from more than 30 yards out before Brendan Galloway volleyed over following Mason Holgate's clever knock-down header. Chances remained limited but it required an excellent block from Galloway to deny Palmer and keep it 0-0 midway through the second half. Dabo's cross evaded everyone and found its way through to the back post, where it was redirected into the path of the supporting Palmer. The midfielder had to stretch to get his shot away but it was blocked bravely by the defender with 19 first team appearances to his name this term. The introduction of Jay Dasilva provided the hosts with a different threat down the left flank and he blazed over moments after coming on. Matty Foulds also fired off-target in the closing minutes but it was a game lacking in quality in front of goal throughout and so a goalless draw seemed the most appropriate final result. == Manager reaction == Manager Adi Viveash saw similarities between today's game and the away meeting three weeks ago which was lost 2-0. 'Everton are set up very well and we found it difficult against them in both games,' he said. 'This game was too stop-start and there wasn't a lot of space but we were good defensively in the main. Nathan Baxter on his Under-21 debut did not have a save to make really. Our central midfielders worked very hard and Fankaty Dabo had a much better second half and put in some fantastic crosses but we couldn't quite get there. We didn't commit enough numbers forward. The players in the attacking third weren't as good as they have been in many games this season. 'Reece Mitchell's early injury was disappointing and we were concerned late on when Jake Clarke-Salter want off but we don't think it is anything too serious and hopefully he will be okay. 'The challenge for our boys is to look at a couple of the Everton players with first-team experience and work out what to take from them.' The match was the final one to be hosted by Aldershot this campaign. 'We have had some good games here this season,' noted Viveash. 'They are very hospitable and we enjoy bringing our football here and hopefully they have enjoyed it.' The Under-21s return to action with their final home game of the season this Friday 6 May. Manchester United are the visitors to Stamford Bridge for a 7.05pm kick-off, live on Chelsea TV. Tickets are currently available to purchase online. Viveash's side then conclude the campaign with trips to Manchester City and Leicester City next week.
