U23聯賽第11輪精華 https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/11/ pl2-report--chelsea-v-liverpool.html PL2 report: Chelsea 1 Liverpool 3 Sat 25 Nov 2017 Our development squad fought back to level against the league leaders but eventually suffered defeat in Premier League 2 this afternoon (Saturday). Callum Hudson-Odoi's wonderful individual goal cancelled out an opener from Harry Wilson but Ben Woodburn handed Liverpool a half-time lead and Wilson netted again midway through the second period to give the Reds all three league points. It was a frustrating result at the end of a positive performance and leaves Joe Edwards's youngsters ninth in the Division One standings. The only change in our starting team from last weekend's 3-2 win at Tottenham was an enforced one as Kyle Scott travelled to Anfield with the first team and Dujon Sterling returned. The personnel change forced Edwards to tinker slightly with his side and deploy Jacob Maddox in a deeper central midfield role alongside Ruben Sammut. Sterling started on the right wing and Hudson-Odoi on the left, with Harvey St Clair supporting striker Martell Taylor-Crossdale through the middle. The back five were unchanged with Jamie Cumming back in goal protected by Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Jake Clarke-Salter and Josh Grant. The Reds beat second-place Everton last week to extend their lead at the summit of PL2 to five points and they brought an experienced side to Cobham, with Jon Flanagan in defence and a dangerous front three of Wilson, England Under-17 striker Rhian Brewster and recent senior Welsh debutant Woodburn. Brewster's teasing low centre was well read and intercepted by Chalobah early on as the leaders started brightly in the Surrey sunshine. Matt Virtue turned Flanagan's delivery marginally wide at the near post but the warning signs went unheeded as Liverpool took the lead after six minutes played. Capitalising fully on a defensive error, Wilson raced clear in behind down the right channel and quickly advanced to bear down on Cumming's goal, slotting the ball confidently past the onrushing goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Hudson-Odoi skipped past Flanagan but was outnumbered and harried away from danger as Liverpool continued to carve out the more early presentable chances. Wilson found Brewster in the box but the striker opted to shoot rather than slide in the overlapping Woodburn, his low drive aimed straight at Cumming. Woodburn did have the opportunity to cause problems down the left moments later after loose play in possession from Edwards's side but the teenager was left disappointed with his finish, which flew harmlessly beyond the far post. Liverpool's lead lasted 15 minutes before the Blues hit back. Sammut initiated the counter-attack with excellent defending on the edge of his own box, jockeying up against Herbie Kane before timing a perfect tackle to steal the ball and set Hudson-Odoi free on the break. The forward's eyes lit up with green field to dribble into and his mazy run took three defenders out of the game before he rounded onrushing keeper Caomhin Kelleher and tucked the ball into an unguarded goal. https://twitter.com/ChelseaFC/status/934832681908654081 哈德森奧多伊大單刀 It was a second goal in as many games for Hudson-Odoi, who continued to be tested not only in how he could influence the game in the final third but also with defensive duties in tracking the adventurous Flanagan, the 24-year-old right-back. Grant kept him at bay with good defending in the box before James threatened down the other end, delivering a low cross towards Sterling but grasped by Kelleher. The contest settled as the interval approached but Liverpool's front three were a constant threat and a defence-splitting forward pass for Woodburn did sufficient damage four minutes before the break. The Welsh winger faced a similar challenge to Wilson 35 minutes earlier and demonstrated the same composure to put his side back in front. It was a bright restart from the hosts and James had a legitimate penalty appeal in the opening minutes of the half, seemingly clipped by an outstretched leg as he moved into the box, but the officials were unconvinced. Brewster then turned provider for Virtue but the midfielder missed the target from point-blank range, a let-off for the hosts. Chelsea then carved out two opportunities that ought to have brought a second equaliser. Maddox got on the ball in midfield and shifted it wide to Hudson-Odoi, whose cutback found Taylor-Crossdale 10 yards out. The striker had time to take a touch but probably delayed too long, allowing bodies to gather between him and the goal to deflect the ball to safety. St Clair was then handed a chance moments later as the Blues worked an attack from left to right on the edge of the box but our Scottish youth international was wayward with his shot, which flew harmlessly wide. Those spurned sights at goal proved significant as the visitors came strong once more beyond the hour mark. Chalobah made an important block to deny Virtue before Cumming faced a nervous wait after charging off his line and bringing down Wilson 30 yards from goal. The officials deemed that Chalobah was providing sufficient cover and the goalkeeper escaped with a booking. Hudson-Odoi provided a continuing source of creativity and his effort smashed against the woodwork after Sterling had delivered from the byline. The loose ball fell invitingly to substitute Kylian Hazard eight yards out but the Belgian blazed over the bar. Sammut then tested Kelleher with a bending shot towards the far corner that the keeper was able to gather comfortably before Hudson-Odoi crossed once more late on, finding Sterling at the far post but Kelleher again made a telling contribution to save with his feet. It was encouraging that the Blues continued to attack deep into stoppage time but their efforts proved to be in vain as they suffered a rare Cobham defeat. Next up is Exeter City in the Checkatrade Trophy this Tuesday 28 November, live on Chelsea TV from 7.45pm. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/11/pl2-reaction--tough-to-take PL2 reaction: Tough to take Mon 27 Nov 2017 Our development squad fell to a first defeat in five matches at the weekend, going down 3-1 against the league leaders Liverpool at Cobham. Callum Hudson-Odoi had drawn us level with a brilliant individual goal but manager Joe Edwards was left rueing spurned opportunities and sloppiness in both boxes. 'Losing at home is always disappointing but when you're pretty happy with most of the performance and still lose, that's even more difficult to take,' Edwards told the official Chelsea website after the game. 'We did a lot of good things and a lot of the things we planned for heading into the game paid off because I thought we nullified what Liverpool have done well for most of the season. 'There were some good individual performances and it was pleasing that we kept fighting right to the end - it wasn't like Liverpool could just manage the game out at 3-1 up. We really took it to them right to the final whistle but once again quality in both boxes is what's decided the result despite a decent performance from us.' An early goal for the visitors placed the Blues on the back foot but Hudson-Odoi's wonderful equaliser restored parity before Edwards felt his side showed naivety in their approach during the contest's middle third. 'The boys up the top end of the pitch – Harvey [St Clair], Martell [Taylor-Crossdale] and Dujon [Sterling] – pressed well and made it difficult for them to settle but the goal we conceded after five minutes came from sloppiness at the back from us,' he continued. 'We showed a good response and Callum scored an outstanding goal but our problem then was we took control of the game, were a bit too open and probably a bit naive, which Liverpool punished us for. 'The third goal was a big blow but we responded well again and created a number of chances in the second half. Dujon and Reece [James] were excellent working as a pair on the right-hand side and created a lot for us. Callum had moments, hit the crossbar and there were a couple of good saves from their keeper but when you're chasing games, players do start to snatch at chances or force things. 'What we've really learned this season, with it being a step up in level for some of the boys and against some difficult opponents, is the impact that goals have on games. It's amazing psychologically what it can do when you know you're behind and creating chances but they're not going in. 'You snatch at things or take too long because you want the ball to fall perfectly. Had it been 1-0 to us we might have easily slotted those in but again we've given ourselves uphill struggles by conceding poor goals and falling behind.' The development squad are back in action this midweek when they travel to Exeter City in the Checkatrade Trophy. The Blues need a victory in their final group game to keep alive hopes of reaching the knockout round. Kick-off at St James's Park is 7.45pm tomorrow (Tuesday) and the game is being screened live on Chelsea TV.
