Chelsea Here Chelsea There: Derby wonder goal for Zappacosta, big win for
Moses and clean sheets continue for Cumming
08 Mar 2021
We bring you a round-up of how Chelsea players have been doing on loan
over the last week, including dramatic derbies in Italy and Greece...

In Italy, Davide Zappacosta lit up the Derby della Lanterna with a fine
solo goal. He gave Genoa the lead over local rivals Sampdoria as he burst
forward down the left, lifted the ball over one defender, breezed past a
second, and slotted past the goalkeeper. Unfortunately they couldn't hold
on to that lead, having to settle for a 1-1 draw, and then suffered just
their third defeat of the year, 1-0 away at Roma.

Tiemoue Bakayoko came off the bench for Napoli in a crazy 3-3 draw at
Sassuolo that included an own goal, a disallowed goal and three penalties,
two of which came in injury time. When Bakayoko took to the pitch his
Napoli side had just pulled the score back to 2-2 and it looked like they
had sealed victory from the spot in the last minute, only for Sassuolo to
equalise from 12 yards with the last kick of the game.
Fikayo Tomori was in the AC Milan side which kept a clean sheet in a 2-0
away at Hellas Verona, keeping pace with local rivals Inter Milan at the
top of the Serie A table.

Victor Moses featured throughout Spartak Moscow's emphatic 6-1 home win
over Krasnodar in Russia. He helped put the icing on the cake, as the
rebound from his saved shot was tapped in for the sixth goal. That result
takes them within four points of top spot in the table.
Baba Rahman helped inspire a dramatic derby comeback by PAOK in Greece. He
came off the bench with 10 minutes left of their match against Aris
Salonika and his team two goals down, but an 87th minute strike and an
injury-time penalty secured them a 2-2 draw.
Closer to home, Ethan Ampadu helped Sheffield United survive more than
half-an-hour with 10 men to beat Aston Villa 1-0, their fourth Premier
League win of the season, but couldn't repeat that result when they hosted
Southampton over the weekend, going down to a 2-0 defeat.

Ross Barkley came off the bench for Villa in that loss to the Blades, as
well as their 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a second-half substitute for Fulham as they boosted
their chances of Premier League survival with a 1-0 win over Liverpool,
having started their loss to Tottenham by the same score earlier in the
week. That win leaves the Cottages only in the drop zone on goal
difference.

Conor Gallagher and West Bromwich Albion remain eight points from safety
after a 1-0 defeat to high-flying Everton and a 0-0 draw with fellow
relegation candidates Newcastle United.
Marc Guehi and Swansea City kept up the pressure in the race for automatic
promotion from the Championship with back-to-back 2-1 wins over Stoke City
and Middlesbrough. Guehi's intercepted pass led to Stoke's opener as they
came from behind to beat the Potters, but the centre-back made up for it
in their next game with a stunning block to deny Middlesbrough a certain
goal and secure the second of those victories.
Substitute Izzy Brown suffered a bitter defeat with Sheffield Wednesday.
Having helped them equalise against Rotherham United late on, they then
conceded in seventh minute of added time to lose 2-1 against 10 men.
Things were going well for Nathan Baxter in League One in midweek when his
Accrington Stanley side took an early lead against Ipswich Town and the
on-loan goalkeeper produced an excellent save to deny the Tractor Boys
from the penalty spot. However, Accrington were reduced to 10 men as a
result of that penalty and Baxter was then forced off with an injury
before half-time.

Ipswich equalised shortly after Baxter's exit and went on to win 2-1,
despite the efforts of Tariq Uwakwe off the bench. Jon Russell was an
unused substitute for that game, but did get on four days later when
Accrington beat Swindon Town 2-1 to go within two points of the play-off
places.
Ian Maatsen helped Charlton Athletic to a 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic, but
they dropped points in the play-off race when held to a goalless draw by
Oxford United on Saturday. Luke McCormick was shown a red card in Bristol
Rovers' 1-0 defeat at Burton Albion after receiving a second booking for
kicking the ball away in frustration.
Goalkeeper Jamie Cumming helped Stevenage Borough make it five games
unbeaten in League Two, taking his own record to four consecutive clean
sheets in the process. First they shocked promotion favourites Forest
Green Rovers 3-0, before Cumming had an even bigger impact as they defeat
Harrogate Town 1-0. In addition to a series of important saves, the keeper
also provided the assist for the only goal of the game, with his quick
kick over the top setting Elliott List clear to score.

In Turkey, Danny Drinkwater and Lewis Baker were denied the chance to go
head-to-head in midfielder as Kasimpasa hosted Trabzonspor. Drinkwater
started for Kasimpasa but was withdrawn with the score tied at 1-1, with
Baker coming off the bench late on with his Trabzonspor side leading 2-1.
Matt Miazga came close to getting an injury-time winner for Belgian side
Anderlecht but couldn't find the net with his late header, meaning they
had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Mechelen, in which both goals were
scored from the penalty spot. Ike Ugbo and Cercle Bruges were beaten 2-0
away at Genk.
Armando Broja and Vitesse Arnhem gave their chances of a top-three finish
a big boost with a 2-1 win over third-placed AZ Alkmaar, leaving just one
point behind their opponents in the Eredivisie table. Marco van Ginkel
continued his return to fitness as a late substitute for PSV Eindhoven in
their 3-1 win at Fortuna Sittard, while Juan Castillo was a second-half
substitute for ADO Den Haag, but was powerless to prevent their 3-0 defeat
away at Heerenveen.
Trevoh Chalobah featured throughout Lorient's 1-1 Ligue 1 draw at
Montpellier, coming close to setting up a winner in the second half.
Malang Sarr started at left-back for Porto as they exited the Portuguese
Cup with a 3-2 defeat to Braga, and then came on at centre-back at
half-time as they bounced back with a 2-0 league win over Gil Vicente.
Kenedy was another on the receiving end of a late goal, coming on for
Granada as an injury-time goal condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at Athletic
Bilbao in Spain.
