U18南區聯賽第22輪精華 https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2022/04/19/ under-18s-report---chelsea-2-tottenham-hotspur-2 Under-18s report: Chelsea 3 Tottenham Hotspur 2 19 Apr 2022 Leo Castledine scored a late winner to give Ed Brand's side a 3-2 win in the first of two London derbies this week for the home side. After goals from Ronnie Stutter and Edwin Andersson were each equalised by Spurs, up stepped Castledine who gave the keeper no chance with a strong header. https://i.imgur.com/AknxxZ5.jpg
Brand used this game as an opportunity to play two players who have predominantly been with the Under-16s this campaign. Harrison Murray-Campbell made his second consecutive start for the Under-18 team and Max Merrick was selected between the sticks. It was a brilliant start from our young Blues as a fast break in the opening moments of the game led by Louis Flower was finished off well by Stutter who calmly finished over Adam Hayton in the Spurs goal. https://i.imgur.com/MLip8sr.jpg
Ronnie Stutter gave us the lead in the opening minute of the game Despite a good positive start, it did not take long for the away side to respond, and it was as a result of our doing as Max Merrick's attempted pass out from the back was intercepted by Max McKnight who smashed the ball into the back of the net. We did not let their goal shake us as we maintained good patience by controlling the possession and after some inventive play by Sam Rak-Sakyi which found Andersson, we scored our second. Andersson drove towards the goal and calmly slotted past the keeper's outstretched leg. https://i.imgur.com/FQJzt0Q.jpg
Edwin Andersson restored our lead with a fine finish past the keeper It was the away team's turn to have a good spell of pressure and the best opportunity from this period was a speculative effort from Billy Heaps which was moving in the air but Merrick atoned for his earlier error with a good one-handed stop. Tottenham did pull it back once again five minutes before half-time when a well-delivered set-piece found its way to the back post and with Merrick in the melee attempting to claim the initial cross, Jamie Donley was on hand to tap into an empty net. Both teams in the second half had chances to take the lead but the biggest of these fell to Malik Mothersille who was played in by a fantastic ball from substitute Jimi Tauriainen, but the eventual shot was stopped by the right boot Hayton. Another second-half substitute almost grabbed the go-ahead goal as Castledine came close with a shot on the swivel in the penalty area. It beat the keeper but only just went wide of the goal. We continued to apply the pressure with a number of crosses delivered into the box and it finally paid off five minutes from time. A corner taken by Andersson found the head of Castledine who powered it past the Spurs keeper. https://i.imgur.com/KvSZX8e.jpg
Leo Castledine scored the winner five minutes from time with a well-timed header, giving the keeper no chance A deserved win from our young Blues as despite the league title being out of reach, the desire the team showed to win the game was exemplary. It maintains what has so far been a winning start to local derby week for the Pride of London.
