'Miller, Wood in arms race to return in May'
原本 Wood 的進度領先 Miller
Wood是去年八月底動手術 Miller是九月底
因此在春訓營剛開始 Wood 進度是領先的
但是就像大家知道的 Wood 這星期二去動了膝關節鏡
所以現在兩個人的進度很接近 不知道誰能夠先在季賽先發
Miller 星期四的時候首次登上投手丘投球 他一共投了10球
膝關節鏡三天後 Wood 的投球已經非常強勁
這顯示了 Wood 下了堅定的決心 要成功的回到球場
(我不知道這樣翻對不對 ._.)
To be playing catch with quite a bit of force behind his throws three days
later was a further sign of how determined Wood is to make a successful
comeback.
以下節錄 Wood說的話
"They gave me a cane to walk out of there with, and I didn't use it."
"離開醫院時 他們給我一個柺杖 但是我沒有用到"
"[My knee] is a little tight, I've got a little swelling, but other than
that, it doesn't bother me to walk. The only day I missed throwing was the
day I had the surgery"
"我的膝蓋有點緊 有點腫 但是並不影響我走路,
我唯一沒有做練習的那天就是我手術那天 "
"Mark [O'Neal, Cubs athletic trainer] told me today he didn't expect me to
be where I was at until six, seven, eight days after surgery, so it looks
like we're heading in the right direction."
"Mark 告訴我 他原本認為要等手術後六 七 八天之後 我才會到我現在的進度
所以我想 我們在正確的方向上"
看起來 Wood的情況是不錯 :)
另外, 有關新同學 Bob Howry
Howry 是一個安靜的人 他不經常說話
但是他的表現 卻在小熊的春訓營造成了很大的聲響
目前為止 他總共在熱身賽投了三局 只被擊出一支安打 沒有任何失分
這對一個一向在春訓營裡比較慢進入狀況的投手來說
是很不錯的表現
"他們事先告訴我 如果Howry在春訓營沒有投得很好的話 不要太在意"
"但是我現在看起來 覺得他在我們春訓營投的很好啊"
"大家都知道 他想要當Closer, 但是他在中繼這個位置上,也是非常有價值的"
"如果Dempster 需要休息個一兩天 我們一點也不用擔心"
"因為我們有 Scott Eyre 和 Bob Howry可以隨時代班" Baker說
