Re: [Chicago熱爐] DeRo換笑臉3P, Marquis, Miles
繼續炒一下舊聞
到底有沒有容納PEAVY的薪資空間呢??
看標題就夠了
想稍微看仔細一點的可以看紫色部份
"Cubs' budget has room for Peavy trade and left-handed hitter " 12/11 08
"It isn't easy being Jim Hendry, but it's sure fun to try.
And truth be told, any fan with a calculator, a computer and Internet service
can try to figure out a way to squeeze Jake Peavy and a quality
left-handed-hitting outfielder into Hendry's projected $140 million budget
for 2009.
The hardest part is parting with Mark DeRosa, whose solid bat and ability to
play several positions made him an invaluable cog on the 2007 and '08 teams.
But DeRosa appears to be the key to any Peavy deal, and both Minnesota and
Philadelphia are willing to trade top pitching prospects for the veteran
infielder so the Cubs can flip them to San Diego along with Jason Marquis and
top prospect Josh Vitters.
Now how does Hendry fit both Peavy and a middle-of-the-order hitter into his
2009 budget? With a few subtractions to his '08 payroll.
The Cubs have eight players whose combined salaries in 2009 are $100.1 million
—Carlos Zambrano, Aramis Ramirez, Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee, Ryan
Dempster, Ted Lilly, Kosuke Fukudome and Rich Harden. They also have two
arbitration-eligible players in Kevin Gregg and Reed Johnson, who should
combine to make about $7 million, and figure to retain 11 players with one to
three years of experience who would add up to about another $8 million to $9
million.
If they trade DeRosa and Marquis, eating half of Marquis' $9.8 million
salary, and non-tender Chad Gaudin, they still will have about $25 million
for a starting pitcher, a left-handed hitting outfielder, a backup catcher
and either another reliever or bench player. Peavy would cost $11 million in
'09, while free-agent catcher Paul Bako, whom the Cubs have targeted, will
cost about $500,000.
The Cubs then would have about $13 million for an outfielder and one
low-salaried player for the bullpen or the bench.
Hendry was mum on the Cubs' progress in the winter meetings, though he said
he spoke with representatives of three or four free agents and thinks he will
be able to sign a quality player. Switch-hitter Milton Bradley remains the
front-runner, with Raul Ibanez and Bobby Abreu also in the picture."
