He went 5-0 in five starts in May to win American League Rookie of the Month honors. Perhaps more impressively, he went 5-2 with a 3.07 ERA over his final 13 starts, in the midst of a playoff race. He struck out eight Twins over 5 2/3 innings in the tiebreaker Oct. 6 before a sellout crowd at the Metrodome.
