DEPOR GOES BACK TO WORK
Tomorrow at 20h00 Depor will have its first training session of the 2003-2004
season. The players are then requested to be present at the Riazor stadium. In
this way, this event will mark the official end of the holidays for the
players.
On Monday the players will have to go through the usual medical tests, also at
Riazor, and will later held another light training session. Right after that,
the team is expected to take a bus to the Galician town of Vilalba, where Depor
traditionally completes its pre-season preparation.
Depor will have its first pre-season match on the 25th of July - on the
'Galicia's Day' - against a local team in Vilalba. This is also the date when
the draw for the Champions League preliminary rounds takes place, thus the date
when Depor will know their first rivals. On the 30th the squad is to be
officially presented to the fans in Riazor, during the celebration of the Juan
Acuna Trophy, to be played against Portuguese and UEFA champions FC Porto.
However, this probably is the quietest pre-season for Depor in terms of
transfers, loans and player exchanges. Indeed, when Depor goes back to work it
will be the only team in the Spanish league not introducing a single new player
, alongside with Mallorca.
Up to date, Depor has only let players out (Dani Mallo), but no new signings
have been officially announced. The squad is now composed by 30 players, seven
more than initially desired by coach Irureta. Irureta has always expressed his
desire to work with a small group of regular players, rather than counting with
a large number, difficult to be managed. In fact, Depor's coach has been
thinking about dividing the squad into two groups, focusing on those he
considers will be playing next season, while leaving the others ready to be
sold or transferred.
現在球隊總共有30位球員，這比Irureta所想要的23位球員多出了七位。Irureta的計畫是
擁有一支小規模的隊伍，而不是一個龐大難以管理調度的陣容。Irureta想把現在手上的球
員分成兩類，第一種是他在下賽季陣容中所需要的隊員，另外一部分則是可能會被賣掉或
租借出去的球員。
