八局下半時，Padres決定把Gonzo送上壘，來抓下一棒的Sexson，結果Sexson一上來就逮住第一個球，擊出中外野方向深遠的三分全壘打，飛行了428英呎，也因此讓Koplove撿到一勝。至於Daigle，6.1局掉兩分，不錯的表現讓他免於被下放。 Sexson說： "I told Gonzo before the game that I've got to get hot so they'll stop walking him. The smart money would say that they'd walk Gonzo to get to me -- right-handed against right-handed with a base open and a couple of outs." 儘管Mantei之前表現不佳，九局時Brenly仍然把他推上投手丘，而BOB主場的球迷立刻噓聲四起。這場比賽Mantei回復到應有水準，讓對方三上三下，並送出1K。賽後Mantei對自家球迷的噓聲感到不快，並說： "You start every game with a clean slate."
