http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/NickPiecoro/91526 The Diamondbacks are very close to shipping right-hander Edwin Jackson to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for right-hander Dan Hudson and another prospect. Hudson, whom the Diamondbacks would have under club control for the next six seasons, had a 3.47 ERA with 108 strikeouts in 93 1/3 innings in 17 starts for Triple-A Charlotte. Rated as the White Sox’ No. 3 prospect by Baseball America entering the season, Hudson has a 6.32 ERA in three starts in the big leagues this season and a 4.72 ERA in 34 1/3 career innings in the majors. He figures to slot immediately into the Diamondbacks rotation. The Diamondbacks will save about $1.5 million on the remainder of Jackson’s salary this season and shed the $8.35 million he was owed next year, his final year before being eligible for free agency. Jackson didn’t live up to the expectations the Diamondbacks had when they acquired him from Detroit as part of a three-team deal in December that also brought them right-hander Ian Kennedy. Jackson posted a 5.16 ERA in 21 starts, though he did throw the second no-hitter in franchise history last month in Tampa Bay. The deal, first reported by FOXSports.com, also will net the Diamondbacks another pitching prospect. According to Baseball America, Hudson throws a fastball in the low-90s with a swing-and-miss change-up and a slider. The Diamondbacks were targeting him in trade talks with the White Sox, who were reluctant to give him up. But, according to a source, the market for Jackson heated up after the Astros dealt Roy Oswalt on Thursday. Hudson was a fifth-round pick in 2008 out of Old Dominion. He rocketed through the White Sox system last season, posting a combined 2.32 ERA in 26 starts at all four full-season levels. Even after moving right-hander Dan Haren on Sunday and now Jackson, the Diamondbacks remain active on the trade market, with second baseman Kelly Johnson drawing the most interest. They also are looking to deal catcher Chris Snyder and Chad Qualls, though they might have to include cash to move either player. For Jackson, it marks the fourth time he’s been traded in his career. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.32.108.201
