"Rookie year: at 31, Paul DePodesta, one of the youngest general managers in baseball history, leads the Dodgers as the McCourt era begins", Los Angeles Business Journal, April 19, 2004 by David Greenberg see http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m5072/is_16_26/ai_n6015451 .... being in a place like L.A., there's a difference in resources. In Oakland, it was very difficult for us to play in major league free agency. .... But there were times we thought a player might be undervalued at $10 million (per year) and yet we couldn't play in that game because we didn't have the $10 million to spend on him, even if we thought it was a great bargain. .... .... But I doubt that the 25 players we have right now are going to be the same 25 that will be here Sept. 30 or Oct. 1. We're at a stage now where I'd like to let this team go out and play and see what it can do and then continue to re-evaluate it and then maybe in June or July start looking to pick up another piece that we need. .... .... There's always a balance between short term and long term in terms of what you're trying to accomplish. We're trying to win in both short term and long term. .... -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.70.164.90
