Former Portsmouth defender Boris Zivkovic is in talks with Stuttgart
about a possible move to the high-flying Bundesliga club.
The 28-year-old Croatian international, whose contract with the English
Premiership club has just been cancelled by mutual accord, has travelled
to meet Stuttgart officials at their winter break training camp in the
Algarve resort of Albufeira in Portugal.
"He's an experienced player - I'm convinced he can help us move forward,"
Stuttgart coach Felix Magath said.
Zivkovic is no stranger to the German first division, having played for
Bayer Leverkusen before moving to Portsmouth.
Stuttgart have already signed up one new player this week, FC Basel's
Swiss international Marco Streller who is joining on a three-million-euro,
four-year deal.
And Zivkovic's fellow Croat, Stuttgart captain Zvonimir Soldo, has signed
a new contract keeping him at the club for another year.
Stuttgart's unbeaten run extended up until the last game before the winter
break when they were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich. They are lying third in
the table ahead of the Bundesliga restart at the end of the month.
