ZAGREB, April 27 (Reuters) Croatia coach Otto Baric called up Kaernten Austria striker Marijo Maric for a friendly international against Macedonia on Wednesday after first choice Dado Prso of Monaco withdrew because of injury. Prso told Baric he wanted to recover before Monaco's second leg Champions League semifinal against Chelsea, the Jutarnji List daily reported. Another forward, Ivica Mornar of Portsmouth, has also pulled out of the Skopje tie because of an injury. Injuries depleted Baric's team and hampered his efforts to build a standard starting line-up in the last two warm-up friendlies at home, which Croatia lost 1-2 to Germany and drew 2-2 with Turkey. Baric is still without key defender, Bayern Munich's Robert Kovac, who will be out of action with an ankle injury until mid-May. Baric said his primary aim in Skopje was to seek a reliable string of midfielders. The spotlight will be on Kaiserslautern playmaker Nenad Bjelica, 32, who earned one cap in late 1990s and then dropped out. 'I do not want to send in too many players because I would not like to lose, but I will certainly use this game to test the candidates for midfield against Switzerland,' Baric told the Jutarnji List. Instead of first-choice goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa, Baric will test his substitutes Tomislav Butina and a newcomer from Austria Vienna, Australian- born Joey Didulica. Croatia are in group B with France, England and Switzerland for the Euro 2004 finals, which takes place in Portugal from June 12 to July 4. Probable team: Tomislav Butina, Mario Tokic, Boris Zivkovic, Stjepan Tomas, Josip Simunic, Darijo Srna, Igor Tudor, Niko Kovac, Milan Rapaic, Tomislav Sokota, Ivan Klasnic. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 211.74.218.114
