From : BBC West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jason Koumas has been named the Championship player of the year at the second Football League Awards in London. The Welshman, who looked certain to leave the club in the summer in a controversial move to Cardiff, has been instrumental for the Baggies this term. Preston's David Nugent took second and Southampton's Gareth Bale was third. Scunthorpe's Billy Sharp won the League One award with MK Dons forward Izale McLeod taking the League Two prize. Wales and Saints left-back Bale, 17, was also named the league's best young player.
