1B Justin Morneau's return this season is becoming less and less likely with just 30 games left. The first baseman is fighting symptoms of a concussion suffered on July 7, and it's only natural to wonder if the first baseman's season is over. "It is definitely premature to say," Twins general manager Bill Smith said Monday. Morneau has missed 48 games since taking a knee to the head from Toronto's John McDonald while breaking up a double play in an 8-0 loss to the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. He was scheduled to join the Twins on a trip to Chicago, Aug. 10-12, but was held back at the last minute, and on the Aug. 13 the Twins announced they were dialing back his rehab. Smith said that decision was made to take pressure off Morneau. Smith said the ending of minor-league schedules won't affect the Twins' ability to get Morneau some rehab at-bats as they can get pitchers to face him even if the games are over. (Yahoo!
