Fractured finger ends Brett Lawrie's season
Blue Jays placed 3B Brett Lawrie on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured
right middle finger.
Well, that's too bad. Lawrie was scratched from Wednesday's lineup after
taking a grounder off the finger during batting practice. The injury was
originally described only as a bruised finger, but apparently an X-ray has
revealed the fracture. It's not clear whether he'll need surgery, but, either
way, he'll be fine by next spring. Lawrie's impressive rookie season ends
with a .293/.373/.580 batting line to go along with nine homers and seven
steals over 150 at-bats.
