Lopez rejects River request
Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez has rejected a request from
River Plate, the club where he began his career.
With the likes of Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o at Barcelona,
the 21-year-old has endured a frustrating season on the
sidelines, making only two appearances this term.
He was linked with several top clubs across Europe in the
January transfer window, and has recently been tipped to
return to his native Argentina.
However, Lopez has now revealed that he turned down an
offer from River Plate, and that he will see out the season
with Barcelona before reviewing his career options in the
summer.
"I am going to end the current season playing at Barcelona,"
he asserted.
"Although I have not played a lot I never thought about leaving.
"I admit that I received an offer from River and that is
something different because it was the club where I started
my career, but my decision is to stay at Barcelona until
the season ends."

Agent predicts transfer splash
http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=373285&CPID=23&clid=&lid=&title=
Agent Ernesto Bronzetti believes that Thierry Henry will only
go to Barcelona if the Catalan club sell Samuel Eto'o to Chelsea
in two of the summer's biggest transfer moves.
The Italian agent, who works regularly with Real Madrid in the
transfer market, made his prediction on Italian television as
speculation over Henry's future continues unabated in England,
Italy and Spain.
Barca are said to be favourites to be favourites to land the
former Monaco forward if he chooses to leave The Gunners at the
end of the current season, but Inter are also said to be very
interested in him. Arsenal remain hopeful that their top scorer
will commit his future to the capital club, as he has always
intimated.
Bronzetti believes that if Henry announces that he wants to move
then the bidding will heat up as several of Europe's richest
clubs will be able to match his personal demands.
"Henry is a great player and it is logical that several clubs
are after him as his demands seem feasible," he said. "But right
now I see him in an exchange with Samuel Eto'o, with Chelsea
having to pay a large amount of money, which Barcelona would
use to sign the Frenchman."
Barcelona believe that they have the necessary finances to make
a move for Henry without off-loading any of their current stars
and technical secretary, Txiki Begiristain, has commented that
the France international would play alongside Ronaldinho and Eto'o.
Inter president Massimo Moratti is also keeping tabs on the
situation according to Bronzetti, who was employed to work for
Madrid by Florentino Perez.
"He [Moratti] is particularly interested in Henry," he explained.
Bronzetti then focused on Ronaldo, who has stated that he could
well leave Madrid in the summer unless he receives more support
from the club and their supporters.
Rumours in the Italian media have suggested that both Inter and
Milan would like to recruit the Brazilian striker, but Bronzetti
is not convinced.
"Not long ago I was with the directors of Inter and they indicated
that have not thought about Ronaldo and neither have Milan ever
enquired about him," he concluded

Reds' Aurelio talks confirmed
http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=373288&CPID=23&clid=&lid=2&title=
Fabio Aurelio's agent has confirmed to skysports.com that
Liverpool are in talks to complete the signing of the
Brazilian full back.
The 26-year-old is out of contract at La Mestalla this
summer and Valencia have, thus far, failed to persuade him
to sign a new deal.
"In this moment, we have presented an offer to player and,
until now, we have not had a response," said Valencia's
sporting director Javier Subirats.
Liverpool have taken advantage of Aurelio's Bosman status
and opened talks, and a deal now looks imminent.
Speaking exclusively to skysports.com, agent Juan Figger has
revealed talks are ongoing - but denied a deal was already in
place, as some Spanish sources suggested on Tuesday.
"The contacts are open with Liverpool and things are going
well, but still the operation is not closed," confirmed Figger.
Aurelio added that his future is in the hands of his representative,
saying: "This subject is with my agent, he knows everything."
Aurelio's capture would be a major coup for Liverpool and would
bolster their left sided-options - with the South American able
to play comfortably in defence and midfield.
Rafa Benitez knows Aurelio well from his time at Valencia and
obviously feels that he is a player who can add some extra quality
to his squad.
