Damia Joins Betis From Barca
Real Betis have signed Damia Abella from FC Barcelona for €1million,
but the Catalans have included two buy-back clauses.
Despite having a year left of a loan deal at Racing Santander, the
Cantabrian did not stand in the player's way after he made it clear
he wanted to move to Betis,
Damia, 24, has signed a five-year deal with the Verdiblanco and hopes
to be fit for the end of pre-season training as he continues his recovery
from a hip operation he had at the end of May.
Having allowed the full-back to move to Betis this summer, Barca have
given themselves the right to re-sign him withint the next two seasons.
The Catalan giants have the option to re-purchase Damia next summer for
€1million or in the summer of 2008 for €3million.
Damia spent the second half of last season on loan at Racing and helped
the club maintain their top flight status.
He made 18 apearrances for the club and scored three goals.
