The book, called Cami d'Itaca (The road to Ithaca) dealt with such varied subjects as childhood anorexia, the antifascist struggle and the previous Spanish governments involvement in both Gulf Wars. The book also touched on his love of tennis and the experience of the street parade through the Avinguda Diagonal in Barcelona on winning La Liga in 2005. 相關閱讀: FC Barcelona’s Oleguer Presas: a Catalan and proud of it http://football.guardian.co.uk/continentalfootball/story/0,,1767592,00.html Oleguer stands tall as the defender of political conscience http://www.soccervision.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=107992 -- 巴薩板我就把原文貼上了 View from Barcelona: Oleguer stands tall as the defender of political conscience By Andy Mitten in Barcelona Published: 16 April 2006 When Wayne Rooney begins work on his first book, he is unlikely to use the recently released tome by the Barcelona defender Oleguer as a template. The 26-year-old Catalan is not your average footballer, and it is not surprising that The Road To Ithaca is the antithesis of the ghosted autobiography. In a political volume, Oleguer pontificates over childhood anorexia, the global anti-fascist struggle and the involvement of a previous Spanish government in the Gulf War. Savaged by the Madrid press, who have labelled him a hypocrite for being prepared to play for Spain despite his desire for Catalan independence, the book has been acclaimed by Catalan academics. Oleguer may not get the star billing - or the salary - of Frank Rijkaard's leading attacking lights, but he is a cult figure among hardcore fans. A Catalan nationalist and socialist, his political conscience was noted by Sub-Commander Marcos of the Mexican Zapatistas movement, who invited him to play a charity match in Chiapas last summer. An economics graduate who missed training to complete his finals, Oleguer's political persuasions befit Bar?a's "more than a club" moniker. Yet he has not been judged on his writing ability since he graduated from the reserves three years ago. Speedy and incisive, Oleguer enjoyed a sound understanding with fellow Catalan and club captain Carles Puyol in central def-ence. Neither was the most technically accomplished, but their concentration and commitment were never questioned. If the former manager Bobby Robson's "Catalunya is a country and FC Barcelona is their army" assertion is true, then Oleguer and Puyol embody a soldier's spirit. An occasionally held view is that Bar?a are so attack-minded that their defence must be their weakness. The evidence is flimsy. Bar?a conceded fewer goals than any other defence in Spain last season, and it is the same this time. But their semi-final opponents, Milan, will have noted that Bar?a have conceded 15 League goals at home - one more than Athletic Bilbao in 13th place. Eight other teams have conceded fewer or the same number of goals at home. Barcelona remain favourites, but a Milan team capable of dominating home and away will recognise there are goals to be had in the Nou Camp. Milan will know that the Bar?a defence has improved considerably in the past year. At Stamford Bridge in 2005 they conceded two goals from moves which started when the full-backs Belletti and Giovanni van Bronckhorst were in the Chelsea half. Van Bronckhorst's career was resuscitated when he arrived from Arsenal and he remains the first-choice left-back ahead of a former Highbury team-mate, the Brazilian Silvinho. Yet the more defensively minded Oleguer is preferred to the attacking right-back Belletti. At Stamford Bridge in February the new-look defence were less readily exposed, and in the return leg they successfully stifled Chelsea's attack. The warrior-like Puyol has matured into one of Europe's best defenders. His interceptions and self-confidence are key to Bar?a's spirit. The Mexico captain, Rafael Marquez, who plays alongside him, is a more technically astute foil who can spray passes with aplomb and boasts superb positioning. He is likely to return for Tuesday's Milan clash after a month out. Victor Valdes, at 24, is young for a top-class goalkeeper. Three high-profile errors this season mean most observers consider Spain regulars Santiago Canizares and Iker Casillas to be better, if not braver, than the impulsive Catalan. Yet he has great reflexes and is assured in one-on-ones. His stock remains high. In front of the defence, the Brazilians Edmilson or Motta are usually favoured in the midfield holding role, although the Spaniard Andres Iniesta was sublime against Benfica in the Champions' League quarter-final, drawing praise from a watching Sir Bobby Charlton, who did not know his name, but opined: "The No 24 was magnificent, a really great player." And that's how Bar?a like it. Let the attackers make the headlines as an ever-improving defence quietly do their job. -- 恕刪 -- ██████████████████ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.130.12.144
