Víctor Valdés and Xavi Hernández have been unable to commit to playing for Catalunya against Colombia in the festive friendly at Camp Nou next week as a number of star names dropped out. The annual game for the team that is unrecognised by FIFA is a high profile event, but neither of the Blaugrana stars are set to appear due to other commitments. Coach Pere Gratacós understands the players' reasons and has accepted that Albert Jorquera will also not appear to avoid injury with several clubs making enquiries about signig him. "Xavi and Víctor both wanted to play, but in the end they had commitments that could not be cancelled," he he told La Vanguardia. Carles Puyol, Gerard Piqué, Bojan Krkic and Sergio Busquets are all included in the squad from Barcelona for the game on December 28 while Sergio Gonzá lez, Albert Lopo and Joan Verdú will come from Depor. Real Madrid youngster Jordi Codina is in, as are Betis' Damià Abella and Sergio García and Celtic playmaker Marc Crosas, among others for the game. Catalunya play a friendly or two every year and have entertained Argentina and Brazil in recent seasons in an event that is always well attended. "It is a sporting festival for us," Gratacós continued. "We try to name the most competitive side we can and we will certainly be going out to win."
