[新聞] Eto'o deal gets complicated
Barcelona President Joan Laporta is refusing to pay Samuel Eto'o a ￡4.3m go
lden handshake, complicating his move to Inter.
The Cameroon international striker has a year left on his contract with the
Blaugrana and wants a percentage of it, as he would quite happily have seen
it out.
Earlier this week, Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola said if he were the club he
would sell Eto'o, strengthening the latter's position.
After originally asking for ￡8.5m, Eto'o is now willing to settle for half
that figure, however, Laporta has so far refused to meet his demands.
Inter President Massimo Moratti has so far steered clear of the matter, hopi
ng it will be resolved in house, but he may now be forced to step in.
Eto'o's agent, Jose Maria Mesalles, is on his way back to Milan after meetin
g Laporta this morning to ask Moratti how he should proceed.
Inter want to maintain a good relationship with Barcelona, who, on top of ag
reeing to sell Eto'o, look set to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic for ￡35m.
Aliaksandr Hleb is likely to join Eto'o at Inter albeit on loan, however, th
is morning he took the opportunity to deny all knowledge of such an eventual
ity.
