Claudio Pizarro Pens Bayern Munich Contract Extension
Claudio Pizarro celebrated his return to Bayern Munich’s pre-season training
yesterday by penning a one-year extension to his contract at the Allianz
Arena.
The Peruvian’s deal was set until 2014, but Bayern Munich have reaffirmed
their faith in the 34-year-old striker by committing for an additional year.
Pizarro, who first joined the treble champions in 2001, played a key role in
Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga triumph – despite small injury breaks – where
he notched six goals in 20 games.
His appearances in the DFB Pokal and the Champions League were somewhat
limited, but he still managed a hat-trick as Bayern Munich thrashed Lille 6-1
in the latter’s group stage.
