Heidfeld to drive for Williams
A new start for Nick?
Germany's Nick Heidfeld will join Australian Mark Webber as the second
driver at BMW Williams this year, the formula one team said at the launch
of its new WilliamsF1-BMW FW27 car.
"We have decided, at the last minute, that Nick Heidfeld would be the
team's regular driver," said Frank Williams.
The German wrapped up testing at Valencia last Wednesday, having completed
more than 5,000 kilometres in testing.
Heidfeld, who raced for Jordan last season after spells at Prost and
Sauber, had been in contention with Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia to become
Webber's Williams team-mate in 2005.
Three teams have yet to complete their driver lineup before the season
starts at the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne on March 6.
Jordan, taken over by Midland last week, have yet to announce any drivers
while Minardi and Red Bull Racing have yet to name their second drivers.
