Anabel Medina Garrigues (ESP) 61 64 Friday, June 19, 2009 Singles - Semifinals Virginie Razzano(FRA) d.Marion Bartoli(FRA) 64 10 ret. Razzano progressed through the all-French semi-final after Marion Bartoli was forced to retire due to injury, the score standing at 6-4 1-0. “I pushed off on my right leg to serve and felt a sharp pain in my leg,”said Bartoli, who has now bowed out in Eastbourne at the semi-final stage for the last three years. “After that I couldn’t push off on my right leg on my serve, it really disturbed my service action. It wasn’t really bothering me in rallies at first but then, after a few games, it began to bother me in rallies as well.” Bartoli, a former Wimbledon runner-up, will now have an anxious wait to find out whether she will be fit for the start of The Championships, which gets under way at The All England Club on Monday. “This is two days before Wimbledon. I start playing Monday so it is very difficult. The doctors can’t really say what the problem is. I have to wait until tomorrow to see if it is just a bit of tightness and I can play Wimbledon or if it is a strain of more than 6cm and it will not be possible for me to play.” Razzano, who reached the French Open fourth round last month, converted all four of her break points opportunities in the first set which proved the determining factor in giving her the lead. “I did the same as yesterday,” said Razzano. “I played my game, tried to hit every ball, tried to fight for every ball because I wanted to win the first set ,win the second set. I was better with my mentality today and played a very good game. “I played my game, looked at the ball and didn’t look at her. I was happy to win today because when you are playing her you have to prepare for anything. If you don’t play your game against her you are lost.” Razzano will now meet Wozniacki, a player she knows will provide a tough test. Caroline is young but very good and she has a lot of experience in tournaments . I’m playing against a great player and a professional player so you can appreciate every game in the match.” Wozniacki, the No.6 seed and world No.9, came from behind to book her place in the final, beating Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak 3-6 6-4 6-4 in just under two hours. “It was a little bit tough conditions today but it was the same for both players,” said Wozniacki. “In the beginning I thought I maybe made too many unforced errors.” Despite winning their only two previous meetings, Wozniacki is expecting a close final against Razzano. “She has played really well on grass and its going to be a tough match for sure. I will go out there and try and enjoy it. "I am pleased to get so far in this tournament. Being in the final gives you a lot of confidence on grass, especially as there have been so many great players who have won the title here.” The 18 year-old from Denmark, who reached the quarter final on her Devonshire Park debut last year, will be attempting to win her fifth WTA title and her first on grass. Later on Friday, the men’s semi-finals see Frenchman Fabrice Santoro take on Canadian qualifier Frank Dancevic and Russian Dmitry Tursunov face Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.160.212.29 ※ 編輯: lynn7117 來自: 218.160.212.29 (06/21 22:48)
